we all have heard stories and stereotypes about the rich... having it all materially, and yet morally or spiritually bankrupt. seems like it goes with the territory, or does it?

being rich certainly changes people, but does it necessarily have to be for the worse?

i just wonder what being rich does to oneself. i'm sure it changes people's perspectives. And i'm not sure whether it is humanly possible not to think of oneself as being "higher" or "better" than the rest of the crowd.

do you know any wealthy people who seem to defy stereotypes and are actually down to earth nice folks?

i do know several people that make nice six figured incomes and still act like normal everyday people. just the other day a man that makes a half million dollars a year took out the trash at a business meeting. i do feel that our business environment is much different than traditional corporate america. we love it when people bring their family to the office. we even have a family night a couple times a month. it isn't like it is a bunch of rich people having a party either. i'm only earning around $40k per year, but a good friend of mine, who might be the most humble man i know, earns $200k.

oh definately i have a LOT of rich friends and most of them the only way you would be able to tell was by the car they drove up in....just because someones rich doesn't mean they aren't careful of how they spend their money...

for a lot of people they think of themselves better and higher because "money is power" so i think thats where the stereotype comes from

but not always there are a lot of people that are very humble about their status in the $$ world =]

no, it doesn't go with the territory. There are a lot of rich people that you'd never know they were rich. Yes, I know some.

These days people who are average people one day and win the lottery the next are the ones whose lives have been turned upside down overnight, and those are the people who really change. They go from having lots of money to usually losing it all overnight because they don't know what to do with it.

yes absolutely, he's an awesome guy who would do anything for anybody, and you can always go to him. His probably the only one that I can think of that didn't change from being wealthy. He's the same rich as he was poor.

There are many affluent families in my place who have remained downright humble, no flagrant display of riches, no pretenses and most of all, are benefactors of large charitable institutions. I can name a few but I can't without their permission. But I know how accommodating and kind-hearted these people are. Their generosity precedes their names in the community that we live.

I am a wealthy kid. I'm not fooling around here my dad owns eight companies, his income is around two-hundred million dollars a year, I attend a private school, I have three houses, two jets, a limo driver, a butler (well sort of), a chef, a house maid, and the parties we throw are all 150+ people.

Okay, so you can always sniff out rich folks because of their high-end clothing. My older brother (14) wears Armani jeans, and Ralph Lauren polos (OK Ralph Lauren isnt a high-end designer, but still) I wear Clavin Klien, have only Hermes scarfs, I wear ten thousand dollar jewelry, designer purses and shoes.

But my dad also wears designer clothing. He is probably the most caring man I have ever met (and buh-leive me, I've met a lot of people, but watevs) He gives a quarter of a billion dollars a year to charities. I love him, he gives so unbelievably much away, and you want to no wat he gets? Newpaper stories saying hes donating so much for good press! They turn EVERYTHING around. I mean it. DON'T BELIEVE THE PRESS!! Paris hilton is probably nicer then u think (haha but I've only met like three celebs and shes not one of em)

My dads companies are 2 help ppl get through college, does that sound like hes a crook?

You never hear about most wealthy people. They just live their lives like anyone else. Many are quite generous donating to many charitable organizations and establishing endowments for education etc.
