no these vehicles are not chavvy but it would be hard to find one that does not have the nuts thrashed off it. maclaren

Don't do it!!!
Chav or not, the mk3 Golf GTi was the worst ever, an insult to the name, (VR6 excepted) If you must have a Golf, Get a really nice mk2 16v, or save up & get a mk4.
Otherwise look at a Honda Civic VTi, Peugeot 306 GTi or even an older BMW 3 series.
Looks you're after a good fun car, hope you get a good 'un!

It may be seen as cavy but they were very very good cars, however they are more often than not driven by boy ( or girl ) racers. Just make sure if you buy 1 that you get it checked out before you part with cash.
I am a biker but I still like the golf gti it was the very first true hot hatch.

I always think of them as a bit chavy but cos usually thats who you see driving it.
Depends what you do with it. If you plan to put black windows in, a full bodykit and super dooper woofer stereo thing then yes it would be chavy. I don't know what sort of money you are talking so I can't recommend one but peugeots come in a GTI type and don't look chavy where as you Corsa's and Punto's do.

i had a 1984 GTI,hood scoupe,rear spoiler,nice rims,second gear you would think the dash was going to land on your lap.great car.if i had it today,it would bring 4 times what it was worth when new. oh yes did i mention recaro seats?i miss it,and will never find another one. get it.

Who cares .. Golfs are awesome cars with great performance and they hold their second hand value so if you want one then go for it and ignore everyone else.!

Not chavy, unless it has been modified to make it so.
However, not as good a car as the Mk2.
