I have noticed over the past few weeks a massive deterioration in the literary standards on this site.

Because they're lazy. Some people maintain that it's not important as long as you can understand the answer, I disagree entirely! I think that it displays a distinct lack of care as well as showing up the flaws in their education. I have too much respect for myself to allow such errors to slip through.
Written, may I say, without the need for spell check!

The children (anyone under twenty five ) are taught that correct spelling is not important and unfortunately the lazy "text speak " generation agree. As for our good friends in the colonies across the pond, they have an excuse by not having been taught correct English in the first place.

Kids are on vacation and they're bored silly. And given the state of public education in the US, this spells trouble for Yahoo Answers!

Because spelling is less important to some than to others. It is not a moral issue. There is room on this earth, and this site, for those who put priority on getting the meaning across.

Mostly, I do, but sometimes I forget. I always try to for simple reason that a lot of Aust. spelling is different to others especially American.

Many do not know that a spell check feature exists.

I have never had to use spell check because I don't need to.

I think the answer is "laziness".
And it's not just those who answer. The questioners could check as well.

wot speling mistaks. i usualy come on ere at leest once a day and havnt noticed a problom.
