For me, life goal is learning. Humans learn in a lower rate when isolated. If you pick a history book you'll see that civilization and technological achievement was easier for the people who lived in cooperation with each other and traded their goods with other people or communities. Observation and imitation of others are important factors that accelerate learning. On the other hand there were a lot of people (like Einstein or Newton) who needed time in isolation to concentrate on their personal projects that eventually served humanity. It's a good idea to find balance between extremes. A little trip can clear your mind; doesn't have to be to another country, maybe a bus to the next town's shop or by train to another state's park.

Canela has just about said it all. Meanwhile while you are busy staying bored with your computer, your real life in the real world is passing you by. Someday you will have to support yourself and I guess you can do something at home on the computer to earn money. You better figure out what and soon because your parents aren't going to put up with a middle aged child not earning their keep. In other words, if this is the exciting life you are choosing, make plans to continue it as you become an adult, so as not to remain leaching off your family. You may be one of those people who enjoy what you are doing and also enjoy complaining about it. You also have the option of getting counseling which may help you really make some positive changes in the way you live. Whatever you decide, I sincerely wish you success.

Why not try opening the door and walking outside?! On second thoughts, I wouldn't worry too much about isolation, unless you don't want to be alone. It's what you do with your time that matters. As you have so much time on your hands, you should work out what you enjoy doing (as long as it's legal), what aims do you have in life? You're only young once, cause havoc and find out the meaning of life!

I have some friends who in my country were arrested as students joining the riots against the military government. They were young in their twenties and quite strong with their emotions. In the prison the intelligence put them in isolation room for months , a small room of 10 sq feet sometimes with 2 feet of water in it. One told me he longed for human touch and voice. Shout to hear some other prison mates and some told stories for him from their cells.
Till today though he is free, he cannot live alone and have so many family and friends around him.

well, i think you should go out and communicate with people personally and if you feel uncomfortable than you'll no what kind of damage has you're mind suffered. 3years! it's too long, but I think that there's nothing that a person can't make right, so try, go out, and if you like games, I don't think you'll get bored with people, 'cos we're playing all the time.

Well, socially, sure. Shyness, fear of strangers, feel of open spaces, fear of taking chances, selfishness, disregard for others' feelings... The list goes on and on.

All I can recommend is that you get out there. Join a gamers club or something, if that's what you like to do. You'll be able to be other people with similar interests.

my first question to you hun would be WHY?
what has caused you to isolate yourself for so long??
i have wanted to isolate myself but i had to push and stay strong as their can be emotional and social damage done if you do not step out into the sunshine or even dance about in the rain for awhile
trust me you will feel so much better if you do

I think so-- yes. the human mind needs to interact with other people to develop and function properly. you are bored and depressed because of being confined to your room.
why would you do something like that to yourself? get out and find some friends..laugh, have fun, live life..
