1.RUSS SWIFT
Pros: If there are two Stigs, then Russ Swift must be one of them. No-one is better equipped to pull off the Stig’s dangerous tricks than this holder of multiple stunt driving records.
We put the question to him last week and his response was: “No comment. What we... (laughs) what Top Gear like about the Stig is the fact that nobody knows who it is. It is not one person.”
Cons: He spends a lot of time out of the country making international motor show appearances.
But that hasn’t stopped him working for Top Gear in the past – he taught three grannies how to do doughnuts…
William Hill odds: 2/1
2. DAMON HILL
Pros: Russ Swift said last week, “A lot of people think the Stig is Damon Hill.” Indeed only two weeks ago a fan asked Hill whether he was the Stig at the Autosport International show.
Hill cryptically replied: "I am not the Stig. But then, only the true Messiah denies his divinity."
Cons: Devious word-play aside, Hill is surely too busy to be the Stig.
As President of the British Racing Drivers Club, Hill is preoccupied with a struggle against F1 tycoon Bernie Ecclestone to keep the British Grand Prix on the F1 calendar. Plus he runs a supercar rental business.
But none of that has stopped him being one of the most popular picks as the real Stig.
William Hill odds: 4/1
3. BEN COLLINS
Pros: The first Stig was a relatively little-known racing driver so the current Stig probably is as well.
Ben Collins is one of those talented and under-rated racers and a particularly gifted wet-weather driver. His appearance on Top Gear as part of a parachuting stunt led to feverish speculation on the Internet that Collins is the real Stig.
Cons: At 1.87m in height (over six feet) he could be too tall for the Stig’s racing suit.
William Hill odds: 8/1
4. TIFF NEEDELL
Pros: Like ex-Stig Perry McCarthy, Tiff Needell is a former racing driver.
He’s also a long-term member of the Top Gear stable - he presented on the original show in the ‘80s and ‘90s. And he appears alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond at the live MPH shows.
Cons: However, the Stig has also appeared at MPH at the same time as Needell. So they can’t be the same person – unless there really is more than one Stig…
William Hill odds: 14/1

IT IS ME A WOMAN HA HA !!!!
Found this information on Yahoo Answers:
There have been two Stigs. The first who dressed all in black, from series 1 and 2 of the current Top Gear format was Perry McCarthy, a professional racing driver who is described as the unluckiest man ever to get into an F1 car - google him for more details. Once his identity was revealed by the daily Telegraph he was "killed off" in a stunt that supposedly went wrong when he drove a Jag XJS off the end of HMS Invincible (in fact they fired the car off with a compressed nitrogen cannon) and replaced with the new Stig who wears all white. Current favourites are former F1 driver Julian Bailey, but it is more likely to be another racing driver, Ben Collins http://www.bencollinsracing.com/... as he has featured as himself in several editions of the show, such as the on with the Evo 8 racing the downhill off-road skateboarder - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huyjr632f... - however these are just popular theories and noone knows who the new Stig is for certain apart from those who work on the show.

The Stig is a racing driver on the revised format of the BBC motoring show Top Gear. He is cast as a mysterious "tame racing driver" whose identity is unknown, and who never speaks or removes his racing helmet on camera. Nonetheless he is fully credited as a presenter alongside Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. The first Stig (2002/3) was racing driver Perry McCarthy
His primary function on the show is to post unbiased lap times on the Power Lap board, and to help the week's Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car around the test track. In addition the Stig carries out other driving duties on the show when the need arises. The Stig has also appeared on some of Jeremy Clarkson's motoring specials, such as Heaven and Hell and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, as well as on BBC's Whizz Whizz Bang Bang.

In 2003, The Stig released his autobiography entitled Flat Out, Flat Broke, in which he spoke openly about his time in Formula 1. Whilst the book was well received, The Stig unfortunately let slip his real identity and a stunned world discovered that the man behind the helmet was in fact... Perry McCarthy!!

The stig has to be some formula 1 guy. Probably British. I would go for the likes of Jenson Button, David coulthard or possibly Nigel Manson.

it's a Mystery, that's why he never removes his helmet :)
maybe they will let us know sometime, perhaps not
Maybe it's in his contract never to remove his helmet, perhaps he is terribly disfigured from a life of dangerous motorsports.
Maybe he's better looking than Clarkson (not difficult) and he is required to wear the helmet so that he doesn't take over the show, part of clarkson's T&Cs
I'm not sure we'll ever know for sure...........
I do know that Perry McCarthy was the 1st Stig (wore Black)
however he got "killed off" in series 2
There is alot of speculation about the identity of "White" Stig but sofar nothing has been confirmed.
