Well after fighting them I can say the only force that was worthy of being called a combat unit was the republican guard. For obvious reasons you just don’t want to bring those guys en mass back together again. What’s left then, not much. You can throw all the money and numbers in the world at that issue and the truth is you wont amount to squat if there isn’t a real local support for it. The local situation is severely fractured. To be specific notice all the “inside” jobs on the latest assassinations and car bombings. The Iraqi army is akin to comparing a sparrow fart to a hurricane.

Well, I guess they are not ready yet. If you have heard on the news, Iraqi forces are slowly taking over missions in Iraq, patrolling, taking care of their borders etc... However, would you feel comfortable teaching someone a new job and then just saying "here you go"? No, you train them, give them some hands on experience and training (on the job training). So, how could you expect to train a soldier to start defending a country already fighting an insurgency?
Just like everything, they need time. Their Government will not run like ours does overnight either. How long did it take for the United States to form a Government and get it running, more than 4 years I can tell you that much.

Iraq has a so-called army, which is not much more than a bunch of guys on the payroll. The leaders of Iraq acknowledge that they still need support from the US. The US military acknowledges that they need to support the Iraq army.
If we allowed civil war between Sunnis and Shiites, the Iraq army is likely to split up and become a part of those groups. We saw, in the US, what can happen in an all out civil war.

Wow, Maybe you should do some more research before making statements like that.
That so called army couldn't stop a cold. We leave there country, and in a matter of days it would be the ultimate mad house. Not to mention that it would be a murder fest there!
Wow, That would make things so much better.

IF the United States pulls out of Iraq and that country falls into chaos, the United States will become the most hated nation by the Iraqi people saying we failed to live up to our promises to them.

Well, the Iraqi army is about as effective as an airsoft gun is against a tank.
We've spent a lot of money training them, but not a lot of results... many are militia members who can just use their new training to go out and fight for their militia and not for their country.

No, the country will erupt in war when the US leaves. Many US trained police and military have joined militia and insurgent groups.

They do. They mention how the Iraqi army isn't ready yet. It can't sustain itself yet, ie, it still depends on American money and equipment. When the Iraqi Army is able to sustain itself, THAT is when it will be ready and when we will no longer be needed.

What makes you think that these 350,000 soldiers could maintain stability in Iraq when they are having trouble right now even with the help of American troops?
