Go to film school. In the US: if you're on the east coast, look at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts; there are a number of schools on the west coast. There are also a number of good schools internationally, including several in London and the Northern Film School in Leeds, UK.

Do a little research to find the one that suits you, look at the application requirements, and start working on a portfolio.

Most of us that studied theater in college, directed projects in school.

Enroll in a university or college, with a good acting program where you can work in all aspects of theater.
