I can't recall when he was tried or convicted, but I keep hearing this case being used as defense for Bush's commutation of Scooter Libby's sentence. Is my Alzheimers kicking up again?

Presdent Clinton was punished for comminting perjury. because the lawsuit by Paula Jones was paid off and dropped the case for perjury would also be dropped in that case. but pres. Clinton was found in contempt of court and stripped of his law license . the federal government should have stepped in and filed a perjury count and obstruction of justice lawsuit againtist him. at the time there were like 7 to 10 people in jail for the exact same crime.

DISPLAYING ABSTRACT - Federal Judge Susan Webber Wright cites Pres Clinton for contempt, ruling he willfully provided false testimony under oath about his relationship with Monica S Lewinsky in January 1998 deposition in sexual misconduct lawsuit filed by Paula Corbin Jones; scathing 32-page decision says Clinton's actions subverted rule of law and violated Jones's right to information relevant to her case; says Clinton's subsequent admission of inappropriate sexual relationship with Lewinsky leaves perjury beyond dispute; notes while no other President has ever been held in contempt, there is no constitutional barrier to doing so and to imposing sanctions; orders Clinton to pay any reasonable expenses, including legal fees, incurred by Jones as result of false testimony, and to reimburse court $1,202 for cost of Wright's travel to Washington to preside at deposition; refers matter to Professional Conduct Committee of Arkansas Supreme Court, which has power to revoke Clinton's license to practice law or impose other sanctions

Clinton was never indicted for any crime, perjury or otherwise.

Clinton was found guilty of contempt of court in a CIVIL case, which involves no indictment. Contempt of court is NOT the same as perjury. He paid a $90k fine and lost his right to practice law.

Clinton was impeached by the house of representatives for perjury, but was acquitted by the senate.

Apparently Neil Bortz insisted on his radio program that Clinton was convicted. A caller phoned in to tell him he was mistaken, but that apparently didn't convince him.

Clinton was impeached (tried) for perjury. Unlike Libby, however, he was not convicted.

Clinton became impeached for his perjury. The senate voted to no longer prosecute. probable because of the fact of all of the airborne dirt and dirt the clintons dug up on every person. the wear and tear became completed, they permit him stay in place of work. they did no longer pick to place the rustic via what they via with Nixon. allowing clinton to stay ensured a republican victory.

He wasn't convicted of perjury; no criminal charges were ever brought. He admitted he lied and was fined for contempt of court. A criminal case would not have succeeded because Clinton's lie about his consensual affair with Monica was not to obstruct the investigation into the claim that he had sexually harassed another woman ten years prior. He lied to protect his public reputation and image. In other words, Clinton's perjury was irrelevant to the case against him.

In contrast, Libby lied to protect himself and his bosses from charges that they were trying to silence administration critics by destroying their reputations and their careers. He obstructed the investigation of a federal crime which involved national security, the outing of a covert spy who was working to prevent nuclear proliferation!
