I am very happy to see how you all keep good knowledge of our religion Islam. Thank you my brothers and sisters. Those of you who are right about the answer i would like to mention their ID:

yazooyazzy, Zsazsa A (We wash ourselves before we read the Quran or before we pray), Riya Layne, tink(yes it is a good idea to stay clean, we care more about hygiene), ENIGMA VS MYTH (You are so true brother), nonpedigreed_p (Um i don't understand the meaning of Godliness but yes we do imagine that we are standing infront of Allah our creator and we have to try to forget all the earthly wants when we are praying to Allah) and also ask for forgiveness if we have done sins in our life and promise not to repeat them again and many things lol, its not that hard once you know how to pray...each prayer takes 10 to 15 min) and we perform our prayer 5 times a day. 1: in early morning before sun rise, 2: After 1PM, 3: between 4-30 to 6-30 depending on the season and the change of the suns position, 4: Before sunset, and final 5: One hour or 1 and a half hour after the 4th prayer. there might be some times changes depending on how big or small the day is. If you add all the time ..lol .. you only spend almost an hour just to pray everyday....but i dont get why even some muslims find it hard to pray.

Well take care my brothers and sisters.

a very common muslim religious activity-called ablution performed before prayer and at certain other times not necessarially before every prayer. A symbolic washing which may help prepare the person for the private time with his creator as in preparing for meditation by deep breathing something like that.Calms the person, gets rid of dust .refreshes them etc.

You know why they do, or you should have asked them, since you work with them.
This is Yahoo Answers and not Yahoo Half witted Statements made up as a Question.
After a question like this you should wash your mouth with carbolic soap.

They are Muslims. Muslims pray 5 times a day- the ritual you are talking about is their ablutions. They are trying to get as clean and presentable as they can in order to face Allah.

They are performing wudu for salah(prayer). And the others are right cleanliness is next to godliness. Bec you are making an effort to present yourself to God. ie to wash away filth.

Not again. You know which people do this, you're just being provocative.
This is not a question of country, it's a question of religion.
Before you pray to God, you cleanse yourself.

its preparation for prayer for muslims and these are the areas most likely to come into contact with things and be dirty...its more to make ourselves feel externally clean and pure as well as internally(hopefully).

it's a sign of respect to whoever they worship, it's kind of like the christian term of being baptised 'washing away their sins)
