Where's the best place to plant them?
I have one side shadey border and one side sunny....

I plant mine in pots so I can move them if they're not growing but they seem to be thriving in my front garden which has sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon

Begonia is a huge genus with nearly 1000 species.They are sub tropical and tropical. Some tolerate sunlight and some don't. The best thing to do is to decide where you want to plant them and go to a real nursery where the staff are able to advise and tell them about the situation you have chosen (I don't mean a plant supermarket or the local D.I.Y. store). They will be able to point you in the direction of the best plant for your requirements.

They love shade.
I suggest a place where they get direct sun for just a few hours.
They go nice under shrubs like Azaleas. The shrub soaks up the sun and shades the begonia and the begonia dresses up a usual bare spot. Everyone is happy!
Shape the Azalea so its more sculptured. Mine looks like an umbrella shading the begonia! LOL

d j, Begonias have become so improved over the years by hybridizing, that it is not worth planting the nonhybrid varieties. Whereas standard varieties burn up in the sun hybrids thrive in both sun and shade: they also bloom more profusely over a longer period. Their only demand is cool, moist soil with a high humus content in the form of peat, compost, or leaf mold. Plant after danger of frost has passed, and the soil around them should be kept moist to maintain cool soil temperatures they need. When watering, take care to avoid splashing the leaves, which can cause leaf spots. There are a variety of colors: white, red, pink, rose, and bicolors. Also, there is a choice of leaf colors: green or bronze. Height ranges from 12-24 inches, depending on variety. Begonias can be used for mass planting in beds,edging for borders, window boxes, containers, and tubs. Taller and bushier (Glamour series) make a solid backdrop for borders. Happy Gardening!

I have my red/pink begonia's planted in the sun. My white one are planted in the shade in the back yard surrounded with monkey grass. I don't remove the plants at the end of the season. I have found that they come back year and year.

Begonias will do best in mostly shade. Reynwater gave a very good answer. Whether they are tuberous or regular the sun will burn their leaves on hot summer days.

Begonias like morning sun but don't tollerate full sun all day. The non tuberous variety can be rooted easily in water. have fun

Either, but you must keep the sunny side watered (if in UK at moment - there no sun and no need to water!)

begonias are tuff, u can plant them most anywhere
