I have seen lots of questions and answers regarding whether or not this is a money scam, celebrity scam or publicity stunt.

What are your thoughts and why?

Offensive comments not needed.

I dont think thats why it happened in the first place. Some people on here think it was a set up to gain money and noteriety, I dont.
I think now she is gone, they have ENJOYED the celeb lifestyle, the money they are raising is being spent wrongly, like legal and PR fees, when you average person who contributed expected it to go towards a PI. Thats wrong and thats why I think they are swindlers.
But the theory they staged it all for money is too far fetched for me.

It is now. They have both resigned their jobs (as of 1 July) and have no source of income except the fund. Willfully unemployed to live in style off the donations, what a pity. They now have a million pounds at their disposal, enough to keep them going for a while. Nice for some.

the events of the night 3 may is still not clear to me as there are so many contradicting versions. i think gerry and kate are having the time of their lives with the found celebrity status and the financial backing from the generous people worlwide.....they've played their cards quite well....imo....all the well wishers sympathise with the mccann's and their tradegy....what about sympathy for madeleine?. she's the only victim here.

Hard to say. But I do think they're milking it for all it's worth. May just be down to the media portrayal, but it doesn't look like they're out there actively searching for her - just living in a luxury villa at the expense of the naively sympathetic public.

There's something not quite right about this case.....

Who knows! All I DO know is that if it were one of my Girls, I would be sedated like an elephant just to keep myself from killing myself. I wouldn't be able to face life even though I'd still have my other girls to care for. The epitomy of a basket case, I just find it unreal that they *function*, smile or skip with their other children.

I think they will only use the money for themelves. The whole thing is a very nasty can of worms. It begs the question,"Where is their child and how did she come to be missing"
