John Lennon - although unfortunately short, I think his music post-Beatles influenced too many people then and still influence many people (musicians and just society) today.

Rob Thomas (matchbox twenty). 3 grammies with "Smooth" and the work with Santana. Now, he is linked to Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger, marc Anthony, Daughtry and yeah, Taylor Hicks. But, everybody is wanting this guy.
