Too long if they have a bad president like they always been calling Mr. Bush, he is already too long in the office yet nothing really happening in the economy.

Too short if they have a good president, seeing him being replace by someone who you hardly know, yet this one president you have if he is really that good has contributed to the economy but his term is just too short lived.

Two terms of four years as President is fine. What we need in my opinion is term limits on congress. One four year term as Senator, two, two year terms as a representative, then out of government. It's the congress that is our main problem. These people get in there and turn into leeches at the expense of us. If your whole goal is to represent the people, then four years gives you plenty of time to do good and if your objective is to be elected and do what you want, then we won't have career leeches in Washington. The longer these elected officials stay, the more probable it is that they become part of the good old boy network in congress and forget why they were elected in the first place. Let's face it, they are paid well, have great benefits, and have more recess time than second graders. Would you want to give that up? Term limits on congress.

You forget that Bush won 2 elections by the laws that exist in the US, even though he did not carry the popular vote in 2000. Many attest that to the very weak candidate Kerry who ran against Bush in 2004. The economy is strong with low interest rates, unemployment, and inflation rates. When I came out of college during the Carter administration we had 10% inlfation, 12% unemployment, and 17% interest rates. We are all less than half of these numbers now in all 3 categories. Perhaps you don't remember this, but Carter was blamed and voted out of office. I think the current system works best and I favor extending it to Congress so people like Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Robert Byrd can't make careers out of being Senators.

You have it backwards. Clinton was in office too long and did nothing but defer all problems to the next administration. Bush, on the other hand, isn't through dealing with all those deferred problems and because he is at least making a attempt to set the nation on a proper course, should be allowed to stay another 8 years. Correction is never well liked by the American people but is vital to preventing an eventual complete collapse nonetheless.

Those who bash Bush would do well to realize this.

That is hopefully to keep corruption and cronyism out of public office. In Bush's case it didn't work.

I can't understand how it takes a village idiot got elected in the first place! He is the first president with a criminal conviction (busted for Poss of Cocaine in Texas), and he is an alcoholic to boot!

In Bushes case 4 years is too long!

It's too short for good continuity in our national policies but far too long to suffer with an dangerously incompetent zealot like we get from time to time. I'd be comfortable with 5-6 years with better provision for removing a bad one.

Its too soon, we won't know if his plans were a failure till at least the next presidents terms. Most people thought Clinton was great, untl Bush showed us the error of our ways..
