I do not know where you live but if you live in an area that experiences frost then the banana trees must be moved inside before frost.
If you live in a sub tropical zone, such as South Florida, it is much easier to grow bananas that will produce fruit. Bananas like lots of sunshine, water and a soil that is PH neutral . Fertilize with 13-13-13 twice a year. It takes 18 months from the time the plant sprouts until it produces fruit.

I bought a dwarf last year. I am in zone 6. The little thing made it through the winter, potted inside the house. Just when it was ready to give off life, the temperatures mellowed out enough for me to put it out in the sun.

I just counted the suckers around it the other day: 5 healthy Juniors!

All I do is spray fish emulsion and liquid bone meal as foliars, and throw some epsom salt grains on the soil every few weeks or so. The single banana plant is now 6 growing in the same 2 galon pot! I'll split them next month and sell them at charity sales at the end of the year...

I actually know very little about how to grow them.

We had one at a rental house that put off small bananas about 4 to 6 inches long.

This type spread like crazy. It popped pups up continuously.
