the only way is for the aliens themselves to go on TV and admit they don't exist.

I really don't think the government could convince the UFO buffs that they know nothing about UFO's. The government hasn't had a very good track record with telling the truth.

Here is my take on this question ... and I believe that it is a valid question. There is probably an infinite number of shapes a life form could evolve into depending on the physical conditions of their home world. Therefore I believe there is a better than even chance that they not would even recognize us as a life form or we them. Then there is the issue of whether or not they would be able to survive on Earth. What if gravity, sunlight, or solar radiation were lethal to them? And how would they recognize our form of government? It would HAVE to be so alien to them that they would probably not be able to grasp the concept of it. How would they know where to look for our government? Not only do we have the national government in DC but each state has its own government. That means there are 51 governments in our country alone. At last count there are 192 countries on Earth each with their own government. Did aliens contact them as well and are they hiding it from their people? My guess is that at least one country would step forward and announce that they were in contact with an alien civilization. Hasn't happened yet! Then there is the question of which part of the government might have been contacted. I Googled it but I could not find a number but I am sure there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of federal employees. How would ET know who to contact? To my knowledge no alien has ever landed and said "Take me to your leader". And just HOW did ET contact someone in government assuming they knew who to contact? Did they put on a human suit and stroll into CIA headquarters? Did they call someone's cell phone and announce their arrival? I agree that having nothing to disclose does not constitute a cover up. It bothers me that there are millions of people who distrust our government so much that they jump on the bandwagon when they hear about cover ups and such. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and to date I have seen nothing that would convince me that the government knows any more than anyone else about aliens.

To answer your question simply...No, there is nothing that the government can do to convince believers that there are no aliens/ufo's here on Earth.

That's an interesting question. However, we better hope that there are UFO's or extraterrestrial beings. If not, this would mean that our "government" is delusional and insidious beyond all human comprehension. It would also mean that 60 years of disinformation, misinformation and outright lies regarding this phenomena is being directed at us for the purpose of enslavement. Like I said, we better hope ET is here. I don't like the other alternative. Do you?

Of course your question implies that all levels of the US government are actually aware of everything that goes on. This is very naive. Presidents Carter and Clinton tried to get information about UFOs and were denied access. There are classified levels of "Secret" that go way above "Top Secret."
Astronauts Gordon Cooper, Edgar Mitchell & Buzz Aldrin are pro-UFO. Scores of Government employees working within the military, the CIA and government contract workers for Lockheed-Martin and other facilities have recently come forward admitting their own participation in UFO/ET related work (not of Earth origin) and stated on record they would testify before congress to this truth. USAF and civilian pilots have been reporting UFO encounters that are not reconciled with 'known' conventional phenomena or technology. Even civil servants of reputable standing in the police and other agencies have reported these experiences, not to leave out the scores and scores of regular, everyday people who have also recounted their experiences.
On Wednesday, May 9th 2001, over twenty military, intelligence, government, corporate and scientific witnesses came forward at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to establish the reality of UFOs or extraterrestrial vehicles, extraterrestrial life forms, and resulting advanced energy and propulsion technologies. The weight of this first-hand testimony, along with supporting government documentation and other evidence, will establish without any doubt the reality of these phenomena, according to Dr. Steven M. Greer, director of the Disclosure Project which hosted the event.

Skeptics and scoffers, and the religious right keep claiming there is no evidence, but even in court, testimony is upheld as evidence. Not everything that happens in one's life leaves a paper trail or tangible proof, but another's disbelief of its truth isn't therefore proof that it is not true. And when there is an intentional squelching of evidence, or outright disinformation used against those who would reveal the truth, then it becomes even more difficult to get the tangible proof that some skeptics still wouldn't accept, because it goes counter to their view of their reality. In other words, not even an abduction or personal encounter would be enough to convince some. They'd write it off as their own hallucination.
Unfortunately, we must add to this the intentional "hoaxers" who create additional chaos and further muddy the path which only facilitates those who wish to keep the public in the dark about the truth.
So, Are UFOs & ETs Real?
With an emphatic YES, they are real. UFOs and ETs have been visiting Earth for millennia. Historical records in cave drawings, rock carvings, ancient manuscripts, the Judeo-Christian Bible, religious artwork, etc. all bear this out. The phenomena did NOT just start in 1947. Its been on-going.
It is EXTREMELY arrogant and short-sighted, not to mention naive to imagine with all the stars and galaxies in the Universe there can't possibly be life, even intelligent and technologically advanced life.
As for whether or not they can reach our Solar System from theirs, the answer is easily YES. People who think distance is problematic don't understand physics, especially "warped space-time" (i.e. creating an artificial wormhole or "stargate"). Faster-than-Light travel does not contradict the laws of physics. Our Universe is over 14 billion years old, our planet has rebooted it's life several times, so who's to say other planets didn't fare much better, and are therefore much more technologically advanced than we are. In fact, haven't you noticed how QUICKLY our own technology is advancing, where it used to take thousands of years to advance to the next stage, then only hundreds, then just a few dozen, now we are advancing so rapidly, technology is already obsolete by the time it comes into common use.
Think about it. There are things the average people don't know is already available, but only to the military or those in-the-know, or wealthy enough to have it first. The common people are always the last to know. Don't be surprised by what is soon to come into our awareness. We haven't even seen the Tip of the Iceberg.
Its obvious, at least to me, that if these ETs (whether extra-terrestrial or extra-dimensional in origin) had intended us great harm they would have taken advantage of our lesser technological state long ago. Since they haven't, it's also easy to imagine they might actually be guiding us (which could explain many "religious" experiences, phenomena and miracles such as "angels" and so forth). It always amazes me how some people can easily accept the notion of a "god" but reject the notion of extra-terrestrial intelligent life. That mentality harkens back to the "6000 y/o flat Earth is the center of the Universe" mindset. I am not saying there is no God, just that it's naive to think creation would be limited to such a tiny speck in such a vast universe, and that we can only allow for the existence of that which we can only collectively agree is true. If collective agreement was ever to be the benchmark for truth then we would have never crawled out of the Dark Ages, let alone the caves.
Think about it. Use your own intuition as a guide. If you think it's nonsense, then it is (for you). Everyone must ultimately be honest with themselves first for anything to really be meaningfully acceptable. Because Ultimately YOU (and I) are responsible for how we act or react to anything. Look around yourself and ask yourself for the truth. You'll find it.

Until another life form manifests itself and indicates it came from " outer space", there is no answer. People either believe or not. The religious nuts on this planet don't want you to believe in the possibility because you might have to rethink religion. Someday, we will encounter another life form- and you can take that to the bank.
