I bought 2 goldfish a week ago, and put them in my tank which I prepared 2 weeks before and treated with nutrafin cycle and aqua plus. Right from the start one of the fish just hovered round the bottom and didn't eat much, which I just thought was lazy! sadly I discovered this one died yesterday morning. the other fish started behaving in a 'quiet' similar way about 2 days ago, & yesterday I noticed he has sort of like a fluffy white coat on his body, & his fins look very small, or clamped I'm not sure which. he also has some browny patches/ sort of spots. & struggles to swim. I went to the pet shop and explained and they gave me Gold Disease safe which they thought was best, so i did a 50% water change and followed the instructions. it said nothing about the filter & I have left that on for 24 hours now since the medication and now I read online the filter should be off. He's just sitting at the bottom looking very poorly & I dont know what to do now. Water ok b4 treatment

Just to add after looking at him again the brown blotches I said about are more like specks rather than spots or blotches.

First, when using any medication you should remove the carbon from your filter if your filter contains carbon. Carbon will remove the medicaiton from the water within a few hours.

You mention both a fluffy white coat on the fish and brown patches or spots as well as the lazy-like behavior. The behavior is common to a sick fish and the clamped fins indicate stress or in this case illness. Two potential diseases come to mind and both should be treated in a similar fashion so the difference isn't really important.

I'm not familiar with Gold Disease Safe and Interpet is terrible about not giving active ingredients to their medications, but I do know many people have reported good success using their products.

Look closely at your fish with a flashlight and see if you can see a gold to rust colored shine in the white coating. It can be hard to see on a goldfish, as they naturally have a shine very similar to the color you are looking for, but it would probably stand out as a little different and may be most noticable around the brown patches or on the gill plates. If you see this, them assume you have a disease called velvet in the tank. To aid in the treatment of velvet, keep the lights in the tank off and if possible cover the tank for the next few days so that less light can enter the tank. Beyond that, continue treating as the directions indicate on the package and keep the carbon out of the filter. If you see no improvement in the next few days, try treating the tank with copper. It should be available at most pet shops.

Best of luck to you and your fish and if I can help further feel free to email me.

that could be ich or some other parasite. if you have a wal mart near you or a pet co they sell something called tank mates its in a box and the one you need has a picture of a tiger oscar on it. dont worry the medicine is not only for oscar fish it is for all fish but salt water fish. follow the directions on the back and put the fizzing tablets in. you can also put ich away in the water with that medicine

Its new tank syndrome. Ammonia rich water is to blame. You must change water every day until the tank is cycled. 50-75% of the water needs to be changed anytime ammonia reaches as high as 1 ppm. Same thing for nitrites. When you start over, change a lot of water often. Get an aquarium guide.

you could circulate your fish right into a clean tank, yet make helpful your new tank water temperature is 80 tiers. each and every thing else is what i observed as "make helpful if ok" one greater element you dont could desire to apply "Parasite fish medical care" except in case you like to, just to make helpful or in the adventure that your fish do have parasite.

take him out of the bigger tank and put him in a smaller bowl. I know you have a gold fish but look at this site and see if you recognize any of the symptoms.. it kinda sounds like ich.. but keep an eye on him..
