My almost 10 month old won't eat more than a few bites of baby food....but eats all kinds of regular food.

(for example: scrambled egg yolks, toast, dry cereal, soft fresh fruits and vegetables, cottage cheese, lumpy mashed potatoes, crackers, cheese)

Should I give up on baby food or is it too early??
He will refuse baby food, but take regular food every time.

Well its great that you baby is eating other foods, that is fantastic, honestly i would give up on his baby food, you are giving him better nutrients with the food you are preparing for him. Thats really great.
If you are worried maybe go to your health nurse but i think you are doing a great job !

Your baby doesnt like baby food stop giving it to him. If he is eating table food he has already found out that baby food is nasty and has no real flavor. Just make sure that he is getting a variety of foods so that he gets all his vitamines and that the food is cut up small enough so he doesnt choke. Make sure the foods are soft enough for him as well and you should be ok.

Just give up baby food and let him regular food as long as he is having no problems chewing it. My daughter never liked baby food, and you don't have to give your child baby food. There is nothing added to the jar stuff that is not in regular food. The main reason for baby food is convience. It is really hard and time consumming to make your own.

My son never had baby food, he HATED it!!. He liked to use his fingers, so everything he had was finger food. He still had a bottle of formula morning, afternoon and night. He is now 15 months, I still give him formula because he does not like cows milk. He eats whatever we eat, including a mild curry, his favourite.

10 months is fine to eat baby food... just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesnt choke. Otherwise go by how he is, sounds like he likes his food :)

A baby acts just like a dog. You give them table food that taste good, and they don't want their own food. It is perfectly normal not to want nasty baby food, after you have tasted that delicious regular food.

Cardinal rule--never give them table food unless you are prepared to feed them table food all of the time.

Just be sure to add some sort of vitamins to your daily routine. (Preferably liquid ones like PolyViSol) because table food will not have the right amount of vitamins and nutrients that a baby needs to develop properly. If you begin to see your baby's stomach swelling a lot, that means that he/she is not getting the proper vitamins and nutrients.

sounds like a good eater.... my daughter is similar in preferring our food to baby food any day.... she seems to know she is missing out on something! anyway, i would prefer that to a baby that will only eat baby food and not regular food.... i think as long as we avoid choking hazards, it is fine to give them our food....
