Lol@ Smutty...
I'm in a strange position with your question. By one side....I'm american..from an american 3rd world country....by the other side..I'm lebanese in my heart
I dunno if reply your Q in a funny way or in a serious way..so....
I think that you are confused dear..
Lebanon has to celebrate its dependence day when all the other countries do it also.
More than half of the countries in the world depend on some other.....( or might I say on ONE??)
I can accept that lebanese pple take as a joke what happen to them, but ....Why to do as if Lebanon dont know or dont want to accept its reality??
That is a global fact... One country depends on "another" ones in economical way...other ones..on a matter of security...other depends on the charity, and several ones, havent ask any "help" but are being helped in spite of they dont want (as iraq)
Lebanon is not the only that depends on another country. Unfortunatelly all the 3rd world's countries do.
So........4th july , we didnt celebrate anything. We are not from the USA in spite of some ironic speeches. USA will never have the history and the culture that Lebanon has.
American countries are "new" countries with only 2 or 3 centuries of history. How can you compare Lebanon with us?? Unluckily, we, the 3rd world's american countries depend on the US dollars too.
So....why has Lebanon to celebrate its dependence day???
Is not only Lebanon who is in that situation. Let's put a World's dependence day, for all.

possibly greater persons would desire to be celebrating "INdependence Day" if Republicans in Congress might connect with the Democrats in doing the will of the commonplace public as desperate with the aid of the final 3 elections. If Congress might do greater, as an occasion, to sell conserving our production right here (i.e. conserving our larger paying midsection type jobs right here), then lots of those at present finding themselves partly or thoroughly based on welfare courses would desire to fortunately stand on their very own 2 ft. It replaced into the Democrats' proposals that gained the commonplace public of citizen help contained in the final 3 elections. Republicans recognize this. yet, like sore losers, they have taken the un-American stance of obstructing the will of the commonplace public at each turn ... Democracy does not artwork if the dropping side refuses to take a lower back seat to the victors in an election. Compromise is a mandatory side of democracy: It makes it possible for the perspectives of the minority to have a favorable impression on how the rustic strikes contained in the direction voted for ... 2 heads are greater suitable than one. It takes the two factors working mutually to get the superb outcomes. Compromise with the commonplace winner of an election isn't optionally available ... it fairly is mandatory for democracy and robust governance.

dependence? it's hard to tell... the ottomans, than the frenchs and now two more countries ... although we're trying to break free from it, they put their hands and noses in our business...
hopefully, we'll be truly independent soon..
