NAME THIS FILM! Its set in space, and all I remember is the eerie ending.....?

Question

I think its two or three people (one of them may die) who are in a space station in space and it seems as though they are stuck there for life.
I remember that they are looking after plants in a botanical part of the space station but there are also these cute robots that help look after the space station. It may be one of the robots that die, so I may be confused with that one. I know the people get very attached to the robots.
But the eerie ending is that they are stuck up there for years and years doing the same thing until they die.
It was made in the 70's (maybe early eighties but I'm pushing it there) and its some thing I remember watching and I'm curious as to why they were stuck, but can't for the life of my remember any more information.

I can't take it away from BogWogPit, 'coz he was first and correct, but I will add for your edification that the title and credits song is sung by Joan Baez. I used to have the Soundtrack Album.
It's nice to see a movie where you can have real sympathy for Bruce Dern, he's so often cast as the villan.
He's the ****** who kills John Wayne in the movie "The Cowboys"..how often does THAT happen>
