I find the most joy in other people's contentment and happiness. I find joy in the health and peace of my family and friends. I would be sorrowful for those who are hurting if I didn't have these things. But in my heart I can keep true Joy
because God is my strength and my life. He is my next breath, I trust His wisdom and care for His children. Even if I can't understand the pains of life. I would be content to know God is still on His Eternal Throne and His reign will never end.
The quote says to me: Many people seek for and thirst after what is so plentious, yet so unappreciated. We have so much in our everyday lives to be content with and thankful for, yet are unsatiable and go through great pangs to satisfy our selfish lusts.

The feeling "joy" varied from to time as I advanced in age. Yet , as I traced if there was any common thread in these joys ,through the times, I find that the realisation of the limitedness of these joys was indeed a joy for me. In other words , I find most joy in being able to overcome the pull /attraction of the small pleasures . As if I have won a mini battle!
I would feel unhappy if I , again , succumb to the pressure of possessing things for small pleasure.
The quote? Somehow I relate this to the North/South divide of the world. The rich nations look at the poorer people in many parts of the world and say that these people are unhappy and suffering. I donot hink this is correct. many in many parts of the world are happy with what they have and they laugh a lot and donot go to psychiatists. I saw the other day, in Egypt, poor people by our standard , but they seem so..oo.... happy and contended.

The most joy is found in the future of the past. A life, carried on through you in some way. The beauty of giving life to something or someone that has lost their way, a child to learn all the things you remember, or the passion that strikes you when you least expect. Joy surrounds you and the more you remember, the more you create.
Without these things the world would be a gray area withing your emotions. I could never be truly happy without sharing my memories for future generations and embracing the memories of past generations.
Materially, by sharing my wisdom and living up to my ideals on what brings me joy, I get 10pts.

I find my joy in Music, and without it there would be no life for me. Music is my happiness, my life, and it expresses so much in many forms. Music is my soul, it lives deep inside of me, just like the blood that courses through my veins. The qoute relates to material things and being unhappy about what you have. The quote says that the fish is greedy, it wants more of what it already has, just like most of our society. Not many people can be happy with what they have, they always have to have more.

I find the most joy in the pursuit of knowledge. I would be very unhappy without this. Well I am not very materialistic and would rather spend my time thinking.
The fish is surrounded by his desire, yet this is not enough. The quote is about greed.
Material things delusion people into a false sense of reality. You are not your car, home, television, or job. Those things are just things.

I'm definately not a materialistic person(if that was your question). I find the most joy just being close to nature (able to see and feel the beauty of nature). Could I be happy without those things probably yes because of my love, family and friends. They are the real happiness to me.
In simple words.
-fish in water is thirsty-
ans- desire will never end, sun will not blind it nor the tide will wash away it. Desire is desire-

Improbable victories.

As long as I can still have those things.

Cool quote! I suppose it is saying that you could be surrounded by all the things you seemingly need & still not be satisfied, still feel empty, lacking what you really need.
All the money in the world won't make you happy if you don't love yourself. Cars, houses, expensive toys, trips etc...all these things may be nice but they in themselves can not make you happy if deep down you don't like who you are.
Happiness comes from being authentic. Accept who you are, like yourself & go after your dreams.
What makes me happy is writing songs & singing, playing guitar, painting, gardening -- basically creating & appreciating beauty. I am also happy when I'm with loved ones, sharing stories, laughing, talking, being close, having fun. What brings me the most joy is love: loving myself & feeling good about who I am, loving others & sharing my life with them, loving nature & enjoying what a beautiful world this is.
Yes I love my house & it is my sanctuary & filled with my artwork & souvenirs I've collected throughout my life but the house itself is just a structure. I am its soul. The bricks & mortar can't make me happy. I make it a home. My dreams, my creativity, my family & friends all these things are what give it value. Not the material things.

The statement could be taken as/for a koan. There are many who seek happiness outside themselves when happiness is everywhere and can be realized rather than located. I find joy in the journey. Though the journey has no true existence the entertainments of consciousness relaxes the suffering of samsara while being samsara themselves. The balm is in the calm.
