That danger is why mediocrity must be turned into excellence before excellence is turned into mediocrity.

No, this is incorrect.
What you call mediocre is the "Norm of society." Excellence can only be held by those that exceed the norm. Apathy is for those that fall below the "Norm."
Your statement: Think, how mediocrity dominates everyone life today.
Your right. The norm is everyday people. The standard of society is not set by those below or above the norm - the "Standard" is set by the norm. If the majority of everyday people began to exercise excellence - then Excellence would become the Norm, hence excellence would become mediocre.

Often mediocrity tries to kill excellence out of fear, jealousy or ignorance (have you seen the film Amadeus about Mozart...cool movie that touches on the difference between mediocre & genius) but luckily excellence often prevails.

It can be difficult to be extraordinary in an ordinary world. Majority rules. The mindless masses can overpower & destroy the exceptional few. History is littered with brilliant minds who were destroyed either literally or spiritually by a mediocre society.

Even the Son of God was put to death for being a rebel...

Of course, those who achieve excellence also achieve immortality. Sometimes they have more power & influence in death than they did in life.

there was mediocrity in the past too, and people feared that it will kill excelence back then as well. the thing is that excellence is independent from mediocrity and will always exist. of course statistically threre are more mediocre things than great ones, but that's ok

As standards for excellence go down and down mediocrity will become the new excellence. Just look at what they accomplished before television.
