I think your printer head cable was damage. Try to replace a new one for you to print clear. Thats problem occur because your printer head pin was become defective anymore. One of the pin may got cut or folded. just replace a new printer head cable and I assure you it will works.

It might be because it's a 9 pin dot matrix (Well done to those telling someone to refill ink tanks or run head clean on this . . . )
9 pin is NOT a high quality printer, even set to "HQ" mode they can only do passable prints.
If you mean unclear as in faint, then try a new ribbon, ink dried up/used up
If you mean low resolution, it's a dot matrix, what do you expect ?

There is a option to clean the print header,go to control panel-->printing and right click on to go to printer properties

The printer might run out of ink or you need to clean the nozzles. Check the printer's properties and see how it can be serviced.
