I guess the fans have gotten used to losing. I'm a die hard cubs fan. I can go to a game where they lose 5-0 and still be happy going home. Just being in Wrigley is amazing. To know how many legends have walked the field that is sitting infront of you. The history is amazing. We all love the cubs. Even if they do lose today...theres always tomorrow. And even if we dont win the World Series this year. Theres always next year. And not having them win the WS in almost a century...we always have something to look forward to. I mean if they had won 26 of them in the last 100 years...what would there be to look forward too?

Just like Pavlov's Dogs the Cubs fans are conditioned to deal with the Cubs not winning. Over the years the Cubs fans have had a sincere love of the game and when that day comes, when they win the world series, it will be a day that everyone will remember for the rest of their lives. I don't want to pick on the fans of the Atlanta Braves, but look at what happened after their 12 year run of division titles, the next year they stopped coming to the ballpark because they became accustomed to winning and now they have a losing team. The true Cubs fans have endured for many years and they deserve a championship, but just wait and see how many new Cubs fans you will have when that day comes, everybody loves a winner.

Same with me. I grew up in Chicago as a Cubs fan. My parents were Cubs fans, their parents were Cubs fans, even my great grandparents were Cubs fans, so I guess it just seemed normal to be a Cubs fan no matter how much they sucked (and trust me as a kid in the 80's and 90's, the Cubs really sucked). I live in California now, and I still watch every game, and go to several games a year at Wrigley. I guess the reason I still love the Cubs is every year there is the hope that this could be the year. If the Cubs were to win the World Series I would be on the first flight out to Chicago to party in the streets to celebrate the Cubs victory.

CUZ CUBS FANS ARE DRUNK LOSERS!!!
It's because they're so loyal that they never win. Why should the tribune pay more money for a good team when they sell out every game anyway (and sell a TON of booze)?
Maybe now it will change and when the sox won that put a lot of pressure on th ecubs to do something.
Cubs fans could help their team by not going to the games when they're sucking (which is usually all the time)
When the Sox suck, fans don't go, so Williams has to put a good team out there (even though they blow pretty hard right now - but fewer people are going now)
You guys are just luck there's always a next year

coming from a non-cubs fan....
all of the chicago teams' fans are loyal if you think about it...the cubs, the bears, the bulls....maybe not the white sox so much....
but i think it's because the other chicago sports franchises have had their streaks of dominance and the cubs never really have, fans are just still waiting for the cubs' turn.
plus it's always fun to root for an underdog...

Ok i'm not a cubs fan but the fact that Cubs fans are as loyal as they are is awesome! honestly I can't say why they stay like that though. . . . i'm a cardinals fan and don't usually have the disappointment problem. . . but way to go for still bein loyal that's awesome! . . . . and it probably has something to do with the fact that your family was born and raised in Chicago.

Why do some of us still support the Pirates? Sure things may change now that the moron of an owner was replaced by his partner but even that will probably take some time. My point though is that sports fans make no sense in their loyalty if you want to get into explaining it.

That is just a midwestern way to do things, you stick by your team no matter what.I can't really think of a City more deserving of a WS Championship than Chi-Town,well maybe The Brew Crew in Mil.
