It is not based on true events, but I soooooo believe that it could easily happen.
People trafficking happens all over the world, this is an extension of it I believe.
That's why that movie scared the crap out of me!!

I heard this too - only I heard that it was going on in Europe a hundred years ago or so, and rich people would pay to torture vagrants and peasants and such... I have no proof and I have not thought to look it up until now but that is what I heard anyway.

The term "Based on actual events" is a very broad on. Theoretically, any movie could claim to be based on an actual event.
