Keitaro, Tell your buddy to just keep it simple. Balloons, friends, family, cake & icecream. Don't forget the video camera.........you are going to want to get this day on video. Something to show the little one when he/she gets older. For embarrassment purposes. lol Have other little kids around to enjoy this day too. I wouldn't go and rent a clown, horse or something big.....cause a 1 yr old isn't going to remember that. Have fun and enjoy the day!! Good luck. :) Tig

I know it's tempting to invite everyone you've ever heard of and have a huge blowout. But resist the urge if possible. Keep it simple. Babies can only handle so much stimulation, and the last thing you want is a shrieking, overstimulated birthday boy!
Invite, at most, about 10-15 close family and friends the baby knows well, and have a simple, brief (2 hours max) party AFTER afternoon naptime.
Cake and ice cream are great, and the baby's first cake is a tradition not to be missed. Many bakeries (even the supermarket ones) will make a special miniature cake for the birthday child, bigger than a cupcake but smaller than an ordinary 9" cake. Let him make a mess of himself if he wants to, then get him into the tub to clean up.
Don't expect him to help opening presents, but allow him to play with the wrappings--he'll undoubtedly appreciate them more than the presents!
Have fun and try to keep it fun for him too! If he's surrounded by calm, loving people he knows well, he's bound to have a terrific first birthday!
Good luck!

Keep it simple. He will not remember it anymore than the baby shower, so basically it is a party for the adults to celebrate this milestone. Make sure you plan it after nap time there is nothing more upsetting than having the baby crying and fussy through the entire party. When my grandson turned 1 last year my daughter in law made a CD of pictures of all those firsts. When daddy held him in the birthing room, to his first bath, to his first steps. She even got one of him with diving into the cake and managed to stick it on at the last minuet. She did it on her computer and had a friend burn enough copies for everyone to take home, as their party favor.

The first birthday is generally kept pretty causal. Just close family and maybe some close friends... a little cake for baby (take lots of pictures!) and a seperate cake for the guests. Nothing too big.

i'm able to relate, as my birthday is purely presently after yuletide. the main element i will inform you is that it fairly is what it fairly is, you could't substitute your toddler's bday, so enable the frustration pass. Secondly, there's an excellent distinction between a "blended contemporary" (as in, a contemporary which would be larger or greater costly bc it fairly is meant to be yuletide and bday) and somebody purely giving them a million present (regularly occurring funds) and purely asserting it fairly is for the two. the different element you could desire to evaluate is with how plenty money ppl already spend on yuletide, they only will possibly not have the money to furnish your toddler one greater present and that i think of in the event that they have not got the skill, your expection of them to get 2 separate presents is as impolite as their loss of doing so (I make an apology for the bluntness). wish that helps.

keep it simple. do something that will ensure that you are going to be able to enjoy because your baby wont remember a thing. Trust me, you cant enjoy much when youre running around trying to cater to 50 kids and trying to please their parents. Small barbeque, small cake, small guest list.
