If it is a Centrino, wifi is built in. Or you could go to Control Panel and look for Wireless Utility there.

If you can find a 'mystery switch' (usually on front face or side) then that's to disable built-in WiFi (most newer laptops have this switch)
Most will show a wireless icon in system tray as well, but you should look at network properties to see if it already shows a wireless connection to go with the hardwired one and/or has a selection to 'Add new Wireless Connection'

click on start,
control panel

and network connections

if you have a wifi card installed then you will see it here....and it should say wireless network on top.
