I've always liked the idea of being able to talk with my mind. but I don't really think it is possible. I was just wondering what other people thought about it...

Does anyone believe in telepathic communication? Well yes actually they do, as evidenced by some people in this thread already. As you suggest in your question, this is an inherently interesting and desirable power to possess, and people have a knack for believing what they want to be true.

Telepathic communication from one human to another is impossible. Both theoretically and practically. There has never been a single case of telepathy that has passed the lightest of scientific or "skeptical" testing.

However (there's that magical word again...) this does not mean that telepathic communication cannot be instantiated by something non-human, or perhaps even an augmented human at some point in the future.

Think on this example...Two computers connected wirelessly through the internet can exchange all sorts of information with near-perfect fidelity. And they can do alot more than just "talk"! It seems that computers already achieve many tasks that fit quite nicely with most definitions of telepathy. At the same time, computers are also rocketing towards having capabilities that fit quite nicely with most definitions of "mind".

It has been suggested that within our lifetime, perhaps as early as 2030, we will be able to "download" all the information from a human brain into a computer. So don't give up hope! Telepathy which is nothing but pseudoscientific nonsense, deception and delusion today, COULD be just a little ways down the road...

Telepathy exists, but don't confuse it with 'speech', because it doesn't really work that way.

Telepathy isn't talking, it's eavesdropping. If you are telepathic, you can go into a state of heightened awareness, and 'hear' another persons thoughts or intents, usually on a primal/emotional level. (Can't read phone numbers - sorry)

It can get a little spooky if two telepaths get together and accurately interpret each other's emotional nuances as desires for specific actions. More typical though is sensing your kids are in trouble or that someone is lying.

I believe in "telepathy" -- but not in the way that it is commonly define and/or practiced by most.

"Telepathic messages" are around us all the time.

The problem lies in the fact that our lack of awareness and sensitivity does not allow us to register it in our consciousnesses.

There are different kinds (or levels of) telepathy.

Almost all of us have what may be referred to as "emotional telepathy"; i.e., being able to "hear" (feel) the emotions of others. This is one of the purposes of our relationships with other humans (family, friends, etc.) is about. These relationships teach us to "be sensitive" to the "energy emanations from others".

This in-turn prepares us for "higher telepathy" -- which some refer to as "mental telepathy". However much of what we see taught, and experience is NOT this higher telepathy at all.

The most accurate and reliable way to discern between the two is based upon the "quality" of the telepathic message.

"Lower telepathy" (also referred to as lower psychism) almost always deals with "the individual" -- "the ego" -- "the personality" -- or "emotions".

"Higher telepathy" (or mental telepathy and/or higher psychism) amost alway deals with "the group"; i.e., information and messages which benefit, enlighten and edify "all" (as in all of humanity).

Thus through the above definitions you can see why it is that I believe that there are FAR less occurences of "real" (of higher) telepathy than what others would lead you to believe.

It's not about "good or bad" or "right or wrong" but about different "levels" -- and about being able to be aware and be able discern the difference -- and how your use it -- and what you decide and act as a result of it.

Regards,

Yes, to a point. My husband and I freak out my 16 yr old daughter all the time. Just last night I walked into the living room to ask him if he wanted some English muffin pizzas and he said, ya but go easy on the oregano and I came back in the kitchen and my daughter screamed stop doing that. Apparently I didn't say a word. We do that kind of thing all the time. We were at a friends b-day party and from across the room I turned and shook my head to say yes and I went outside and got his cell from our car and came back in and his friend Chris said how did you do that? He never asked or motioned in any way I just knew what he wanted. He thought he asked me to get it because I was closer to the door.

I have these same experiences with my Dad as well. My mother always seems to know what is going on in my life no matter how far away we are. 11 yrs ago she woke up at 11:30 and screamed at me for slamming the door on my way in the house. I didn't even live with her but I was an hour away and at 11:30 we were in a serious car accident.

The list goes on but I think if you learn to listen to your body you will experience these things too.

what's extra probable? That your fanatics needed to catch up with to you and suggested issues you would be wanting to hearken to, and/or had an attack of hypochondria? Or, that there is a mechanism undetectable via technology, good judgment and reason wherein 2 every person is declared via a skill different than via verbal replace or physics? Plus, you're speaking extra approximately empathy, no longer telepathy.

I do believe in telepathic communication and telekinetic communication both. My girlfriend and I have been miles apart and have come back to each other to report that we can hear the whispered "I love you" or the hug given in the middle of the night from miles apart, so I most certainly DO believe in it.

My husband and I are 'semi-telepathic' ... we don't 'talk' to each other, but we are so often thinking exactly the same thought at exactly the same time (and some of them are just plain WEIRD thoughts, not 'normal thoughts') ... but we are both Virgo, and are EXTREMELY CLOSE so it's as if only one of us is necessary to 'think' and sometimes I can say to him 'What do I want for dinner' and he'll know better than I do ... Or right before he asks me where something of his is, I'll hand it to him, even before he 'knows' he wanted it, sometimes.

Eh, I answer my boyfriends questions before he even asks them all the time, but I don't think that really counts. That's just being observant and knowing a person really well.

Would be kinda cool though. Some days I just really don't want to talk.

Yes. Some people's thoughts are so strong that you can hear them. I know that anyone can do this, but few people use the power. It only works for me occasionally.
