Moscow has a continental climate, which means that the weather behaves in a similar fashion to states such as Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, etc, or Canadian provinces like Manitoba and Alberta. I say this because Moscow can be awfully hot and humid in August sometimes even though it is very cold in the Winter. I would pack for Summer in Minnesota, which means expect temperatures from 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degree Fahrenheit during the day, and slightly cooler temperatures at night. Try going to weather.com and getting a month forecast, and have fun!

Moscow Weather August

Well, in August it's not usually so cold to get with you furs or whatever you was told by other answerers. I'm a Russian, my home is Moscow, so for the past 20 years the weather is quite stable in here.
Tha only question is -- rain --!!! So in any case you should take an umbrella with you and some light thin sweater, also take a coet (it may be something like thin leather coat). Also you may take with you some warm blouse that you can wear, whenever it is raining or in the evening when the temperature goes down, on some thin shirt or other blouse.

August is still summer! So in any case in day time sun will be there and nice warm weather. Temperature will be about 21-24C.

I would advice you to find out about the weather in Moscow in August, before your departure. During your stay nothing much will be changed, so no problem for you.

I wish you a great trip and lot of great emotions!!!
Best of luck !!!

Moscow is among the greatest towns in the world. Is really a town that has developed quickly in recent years, and, as a result, comprises high-rise suburbs encompassing a relatively lightweight historic heart with plenty of exciting ancient architecture. The most important host to Moscow is the Red Square that has been for ages, the heart and heart of Russia. Here, you are able to visit the Century St. Basil's Cathedral, one of the very famous pieces of structure in the world and the constructivist pyramid of Lenin's Mausoleum. Red Square happens to be a rich devote designs of Russia's turbulent and stimulating past.

Moscow should be nice that time of year. As someone mentioned, I would bring an umbrella. But leave the fur coats at home. Russia isn't a snowy blizzard 365 days a year. I've walked around St. Petersburg and Moscow in shorts during the summer time (though it made me look like a tourist... I recommend always wearing pants to blend in)!

Nowadays you never know about the weather as I´m sure you know, but the weather in Moscow is about the same as in Continental Europe. I´m sure you are not so stupid as to take furs with you, hope it was a joke from one of those who answered you. A good idea is to look at the weather forecasts for Europe and the Moscow area from time to time.

I would take summer clothes including some warm sweaters and coats in case of rainy days.

Have a nice a "warm" trip! (Just a tip, Moscow is nowadays a quite modern city what buying things are concerned, I´m not Russian, but have been there recently many times.)

Have you ever heard of the quote "The coldest winter I spent was the summer in San Francisco"? That's how the weather is there. I spend every summer there, and I love it! Cool at night, in the 60's,70's to sometimes low 80's in the day. Definitely bring a wind breaker, light fleece and long pants. Maybe one pair of shorts and short sleeves if you want to go north to Marin County (or south). Alcatraz is great but dress really warm. Have a great time! It's my favorite city!!
