After India lost to Sri Lanka in the 2007 world cup, I heard some of the players houses were burnt by the Indian people. I am a Sri Lankan. That kind of thing never happened in Sri Lanka.

The answer is simple my friend, it is CULTURE! Look for example I am a West Indian fan and we here in the West Indies don't burn down our players houses but we curse like hell, so much that some folks get heart and health problems. However, the Indians are better than us they don't get heart problems they just use fire to do the talking and vent their frustration.
One more example the Aussies well they don't loose but they trash talk a lot. Okay the English they just get a good english trashing from the tongues of former players, which is very diplomatic of course.
Just remember even though it is crazy, its culture and to tell the truth I wish some of the players of the West Indies had received treats as well. They might have played better. (Smile)

Being a Sri Lankan, I'm not surprised you asked this question.The cricket loving public in India are passionate about the game and they cannot easily digest defeats and when the loss to Sri Lanka meant that India would be knocked out in the first round itself, the anger of the public knew no bounds and they became hysterical and hence the vandalism that resulted thereby.

Majority of people here in India regard cricket as one the greatest sport.People have too much passion for the game.In reality no cricketer's house was burnt but Dhoni's new house was damaged by the people living there and family of other cricketer's especially Dravid had to suffer a little bit.People here in India want their team to win every match against any opponent.People were angry because India lost to Bangladesh and no body except few players played well in that match because of it India were out of the world cup.The expectation of the people were very high from the Indian team and India was knocked out in the first round because of this reason people were very disappointed. I feel this was a wrong way to react after all it is just a game sometimes you win sometimes you lose.I am an Indian.

Indian cricket fans are sick! In India cricket is HUGE , they really have this passion and love for the game. But there just is no excuse for them behaving the way they do. Cricket is a sport, you win some and you lose some. I'm South African and that kind thing never happened here either, a true supporter will stand by their team, win or lose.

Since cricket is most popular game in India and some section of people are crazy about cricket, they getfrustrated when Indian Team looses matches especially any crucialmatch and the attack on the players and their properties are out of these frustation.

In colimbia a foot baller was shot dead,In Pakistan the players and thier belongings are attacked regularly.My dear freind cricket is much more than a gentle mans game in INDIA.
The country is a circket crazy nation also for your information the houses were not burnt they were stoned.
These things have to be stopped but in India emotins rule humans and the circket lovers are no diffrent.

well no ever one likes to loose i mean it happens in Brazil too they would burn and beat the the team players if they loose u know how many times Ronaldo had to rebuild his home?the last time Argentina lost they killed a few fans from the opposite team,i am not a cricket fan so i wont know much about how u guys behave when it comes to your sport but as far i as i can tell u don't ever mess with a football team and there fans we are all crazy.
