I have oily skin also and I use Dr. Brandt Pores No More as a primer. For powder Matte loose powder by Makeup Forever works really well. The best thing to do is to get oil blotting papers and use those to absorb the shine instead of applying more powder which can make it look thick and cakey. As for sunscreen...always use sunscreen. But I find that sunscreen can clog pores even though they claim it doesn't and the spf makes skin shiny. I use colorscience which is a POWDER sunscreen and it is a miracle!!!

Professional brands will always look better, last longer and be better for your skin.
Make sure you have a good cleanser and oil free moisturiser too.
Napoleon Pore minimiser and mattifier first (to mattify the face and hold on to make-up)
Either Napoleon China doll foundation, or (my Fave) the Laura Mercier oil free liquid foundation.
Napoleon pro palette concealer if required
Then any translucent loose powder or compact powder to set.
Keep your compact in your bag if you get shiny and Avon do some great cheap oil blotting papers to absorb oils through the day.
Cleanse with a good cleanser (cetaphil is awesome and cheap at the chemist)
Exfoliate every couple of days and use an oil free moisturiser (laura mercier has a really good one, but you can probably get one just as good a little cheaper)
With these steps you have a good-for-your-skin, long lasting, make-up which will also look awesome in photos.

1] use a face wash, toner, sunscreen, and moisturizer for your skin type. Wash, tone, and sunscreen in AM, then wash, tone, and moisturize at night.
2] get a non-comedogenic [ doesn't cause pimples ] loose powder, and dust it over face before applying any makeup. This should help the makeup set better, without causing break-outs.
Try to use powder and cake vs. liquid or cream makeup
products.
3] avoid fried, fast, and junk food, even diet junk food.
4] take a good multivitamin with minerals every day [ sometimes a little makes a big difference! ]
5] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day
6] don't go to bed with makeup on, ever - unless you are having emergency surgery.

make sure its oil free and doesnt clog pores i use MAC and i also have oily skin and it works great but it is expensive just make sure its liquid so it is less likely to be cakey at the end of the day and dont apply it on your entire face so it looks less obvious and stays on longer
