My best friend waited until Mother's Day and had everyone over for dinner and then gave her mom a card that had a teddy bear on the front. Her mom opened it and on the inside it said, "We're expecting." She passed it around and everyone started crying. It was very sweet.
I, on the other hand, blurted it out the same day my mom was having a nevous break down because she thought she was going to lose her job.
I'd go for the card one myself if I could do it over.

We were living overseas so I wrote a letter to them as if I were the baby. It started off with how much I was looking forward to meeting them and all the fun we would have. It was not until the very end did I say Grandma and Grandpa. With the letter we enclosed a Svvarovski Crystal baby carriage. It was a hit!

I made my daughter (who is 13 months) a onesie with a sharpie that said "I may be little but..." on the front and then on the back it said "...I'm going to be a big sister!" . Another idea that I had but couldn't wait long enough to follow through because of distance was giving them a picture frame with a note in it that said baby sanford coming in march 2008!

I got my dad a card at christmas time that said Merry Christmas Grandpa, with a ultrasound photo inside. I know it's pretty far away from Christmas, but you could get one of those thinking of you cards or wait for a upcoming birthday. I found out I was pregnant in October, and I had to wait two months to tell, but it was worth it.

I would wait until they done an ultra sound most do them around 8 wks now and then I would get a card (congradulations, grandparents to be, etc) Would put a copy of the ultrasound in the card and mail it to them no name on it and see if they call you.

Do the baby meal. Invite them over and serve, baby back ribs, baby corn salad, baby snow peas and baby pies or some other mini desert and serve coffee in espresso mugs or a little tea set.
They should get the theme and if they don't what you need to do is ask them if they are busy the end of June (whenever you are due) and when they say why say that you are hoping that they will be around to meet their grandchild.
I hope that helps and congratulations!

we waited 3 weeks at gave them the preg test as a christmas present. not very origanal i know. my mom thought it was a whistle and my dad goes "don't put that in you r mouth, i think it is a test." then he had to explain what kind of test. But it was so worht it.letting them figure out what was going on made it all the more special. Now my in-laws found out when my mom-in-law set dinner out and i throw up. we didn't get a chance to do the present thing with them.

Do what I did get a picture of the scan and put it in a card to Nanny and Gandad and write "although you cannot see me at the moment I just wanted to let you know I can hear you and will see you in.........months time love Baby......."
Ok a bit slushy but it was great to see the surprise on their faces

Buy them a pair of booties or a dummy and rock up to visit saying hi "grandma,Grandpa." If we hadnt been so nervouse about telling the pars thats how I would have liked to do it that way.
