Im chinese and I've never seen this! I seen some weird stuff: Giant Sea Slug (known as a sea cucumber), chicken feet, duck feet, tripe (beaf guts), sea snails, bird spittle soup also known as birdnest soup made out of cave swallows nests which is the birds spittle, shark fin soup.... Not in the U.S. ... but in China they eat dogs and snake, and though some people say they eat monkey brains... I've never seen it nor have I've seen monkey brains on any restaurant menu in China. But I've heard of some people believe they get smarter if they eat it. Since they are supposedly eaten alive, I would suspect you would hear some hair curling screams as they cut the top of the skull off. And if you think a monkey will make you smarter... maybe it just goes to show who really is the smartest. Most of the time you hear about these strange food practices are not from edjucated people in china. These poor pesants think that eating the birth sack after labor will help beautify their skin, rhinoceros horn and tiger pen*s will make them more viral in bed, boiling or grinding up dragon bones to treat dizziness or leg cramps, in reality they were cooking dinosaur bones found in farm fields.... these are mostly all from the non-educated class in rual areas that are still very superstitious. You will not find this practice in the big cities, and you will not see human placenta on the menu in any restaurant... though some street cafe's will propbably sell dog meat during the winter time.

Many cultures throughout history have done this. However, I have known people who have travelled to and lived in China, and not once was this mentioned. If it DOES happen, it is not predominant in the culture.

Heck, I'm sure there are people in every country who do it. It just isn't dominant in most.

I think a number of cultures do - apparently it contains a lot of goodness.

Wasn't it Tom Cruise who famously did this??
