Bronze like in color, about the size of an American half dollar... one side is
Bare head of George VI left (wartime composition)
GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP.
the other side is :
Britannia seated right on rock by sea, holding shield and trident, lighthouse to left
It is dated 1944. does anyone have a clue of the value?

hmmm now I've found (on the net) one titled " Penny, George VI" stamped 1951 and it was worth $47 (U.S.) ... just can't seem to find a 1944

Yep Army I was thinking maybe that yr. had a small circulation and made the 1951 more valuable.
I have a 1909 penny you'd think would be worth alot, and it's worth like less than a dollar I believe. Actually I have quite a few really old ones that aren't worth much at all, a few cents really.
But gee my head is spinning from looking at all those British coins, how do they keep up? ...lol
Sounds like an interesting (as well as nice) necklace your sister had made.
From reading your additional replies I couldn't make out if you are from the UK or just lived there as a child.
