Yes. Of course this is an ongoing scientific debate, but research has shown that chemicals found in fireworks can cause damage to the ozone layer.

Many sites out there state this, though very few provide any real information, with statements such as "FIreworks hurt the ozone" with no reference or further information

Here is a link to an EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) website that states some of the things that damage the ozone, fireworks being one item on the list.

I live in a very dry part of souther California, so to me, after being evacuated 3 times in 3 years because of forest fires, consider fire a major risk of using fireworks, though many areas don't have the same issues in their regions.

Happy 4th!

In theory, anything that gives off smoke or gas could cause damage to the ozone layer. I would say yes because of their explosive nature.

it's possible. fireworks don't have enough chemicals in it to hurt it. but is can damage it if you get about 1million rockets and lite them all at once. but even with 1 million, it's still minimual damage.

I was watching a fireworks show earlier and jokingly commenting to my buddy about how these people have no concern for global warming.
