The name of our galaxy is the Milky Way Galaxy, but what is the name of our solar system. I know that the sun and our solar system are located within the Orion Arm, but every book I read referes to our solar system as The Solar System. Hhmm maybe that's the name of it and to think we name everything on and off our planet but our very own solar system.

We go by the normal convention of calling a star system by the star's name. Sun is called "Sol" in Latin, and so we call our planetary system as Solar system.
systems around other stars are being searched and are loosely called as exosolar or extrasolar systems. Recently 3 planets have been discovered around the star Upsilon Adromedae. Once this system is fully discovered, we may have a name for this exosolar planetary system.

You are correct our system is called The Solar System.
With that naming convention other solar systems will be named after the star that is the major gravitational object in that system.

An example would be a planetary system at Epsilon Eridani. It would be called The Epsilon Eridani System.

I agree, our solar system has no spacific name, so i would refer to it as either orion's arm or The milky way, even though it's our galaxy. im not 100% sure thou, so i would double check with other answers!

Edit: P.S.: Joshua, you should read the question details! and i dont think bush has done much, i hink he's pretty bad, but that's a whole other topic!

I doesn't have a name, the Solar System, or at leas ours, is all about the Sun and its surroundings..hence the SOLAR system. Our SOLAR system is just our Sun, 8 planets and the Asteroid belt.

Officially, our star is named Sol. Things related to Sol are said to be Solar... so yes, the Solar system. But the term could be boiled down to the Sol system (and it often is, in science fiction).

If anyone would bother to google things instead of assuming, they would know our solar system does indeed have an official name. The Terran system. Named after the original title given to our planet by the ancient civilizations. Terra.

Is our solar system the only one we've discovered? That may be the reason we don't need name distinction.

It's "Our Solar System". ... -Just like our sun is "The Sun"... Or our moon is "The Moon". We give ourselves the GENERIC name to things- & then give SPECIFIC names to other feature that resemble ours... Ultimately- it makes it alittle easier to destinguish OURS- from others... :)
