Your CPU is probably reaching a warning temp at which your BIOS triggers an emergency shutdown. You need to reseat your CPU fan and maybe even add on some more thermal paste to ensure good contact between CPU and heatsink.
If not the problem then i'd look into testing the power supply, but sounds more like heat. Try working without the case side on for a while..see if lowering the temps in general help

Try this it might work:
Right click on your desktop and click on Properties, then click the screensaver tab and click on the button that says Power. Once there check that these (turn off monitor, turn off hard disks, system standby and system hibernates) have the "Never" option selected and hit ok.
Good luck.
If that doesnt work then like the other people said, it might be a hardware problem.

Is it possible you turned on the hibernate option? I've never used it but it's worth a look. Most goofy stuff like this turns out to be a setting.
( XP)Go to Control Panel/ Select printers and other hardware. On the left you should see power options. See if hibernate is set to 1 hour. Other than that ya got me stumped.

Open side panel of PC case. Power On your PC. Point an electric fan towards the motherboard. If PC does not shut off in two hours, then your problem is due to inadequate case ventilation. Improve it w/ more or better fans.
If problem still persists, it could be due to the power supply or RAM.

good way to fix the problem.
1.delightfully leave the computer to be turned off atleast 15 hours a day until computer is healthy again.
bad way to fix this problem.

Your problem is most likely hardware.
This is very difficult to isolate by experience.
Better contact a local technician.

Make sure your fan is running and that the vents are not blocked. CPU could be over-heating.
