It would keep out too many Democratic voters!
That is why the damnolrats don't want it.
For my part, I wouldn't mind seeing two 15 foot barbed wire fences, 25 feet apart from the Rio Grande to the Pacific Ocean, and sow landmines between the fences.

I don't know. It may be a bit expensive, but the US has enormous financial resources. National Guard units have to train someplace, and some can train along the border to bolster the efforts of the USCIS (used to be INS) and the Border Patrol. I honestly don't see how any other aspect of the problem of illegal immigration can be worked on until at least the southern border is secure. We really need two fences with a patrol road running between them.
The northern border needs to be addressed as well because several attempts by terrorists to enter via Canada have been stopped, but there is no way of knowing how many others may have made it in.

Purely political. If you say you want to secure the border, building a wall or in reality putting a wall in certain places is one part to achieving that goal.
Even if you are someone who wants open borders, having illegal immigrants suffer and in some cases die from exposure, get ambushed by bandits, abused by the transporters, face conflicts with border agents, get stuffed into trucks and again suffer and/or die does not seem like you are really helping anyone.
Also border towns on both sides of the border are being distupted and unfairly subjected to dealing with this misery and also criminal elements are taking control inorder to transport people and drugs. Some border areas are totally controlled by gangs. CNN had a report and the amount of suffering and general human misery was terrible.
I am not sure why this is not mentioned more often? Regarless of your position on immigration, this situation has to be managed.

The big and stupid deal for the goverment is to spend the money they don't have because they spent it in the war. So, that's money we have to pay in taxes. To stop illegal inmigrants all they have to do is what they are doing, sending them back. However the wall won't stop all those people, they will find the way to do it. Bottom line, we the citizen are paying the stuped wall.

If the right was really worried about immigration , they would take 1/3 of the money that's spent keeping dictator's in power in the middle east and spend some to help South American economy.

money is always the answer when it comes to crime and politics. You follow the money, and you will always find the root players or the motive.
For instance, money is being spent to educate the children of illegal aliens who do not contribute to the educational fund through their taxes. You, and/or your parents are paying unecessary tax money on these children that, I am sure you would agree, would be better spent by you.
Ergo, someone isn't getting a piece of the pie. And that won't do when it is government being shorted. They don't like to have their regular raises to their regular wages short-changed.
If you follow the money, you will be more informed in this issue.

If you build a big wall, then nobody can complain when you use a sniper to pick off people who accidentally crossed the border.

It pretty much gives bad memories about the wall in Berlin. Also, it wouldn't be completely effective. There would be other ways that illegal immigrants get through. It doesn't make sense cost/effective wise.
