You are poor if you cannot figure out where your next meal is coming from, or if you have no place to stay. And these things happen on a regular basis.
Otherwise, you are only broke at the moment, not poor.

omg !!!
i went to mexico once and stayed at a luxury timeshare advertized as the mexican 'riveara'. i was so appauled at the poverty i saw while making the trip from the airport to the timeshare that i almost turned around and left the country.
there are people living on rocky cliffs with dirt roads in what looks like one car garages made of corregated tin with no windows.
what are the chances that there's adequate food, running water, toilet, or air conditioning in such a house?
