Why do you "think" you are the best team in the NL? You guys got blown out today 17-7 and as far as I see, you guys have been blown out a lot!!! I'm sorry you are not the best team in the NL, as much as you think you are. As far as I'm concerned you are in the top 5, but why do you keep saying just wait till were healthy? Who is injured on your team? Are you waiting for the great 35 year old Pedro Martinez? You are just like the other New York team, putting your fate in some washed up pitcher! I can't wait to see you guys fall in the playoffs, if you even make it there!
GO PADS!!! BEST PITCHING STAFF IN THE MAJORS!!!

and for your information JACKSMITH we havent choked the past two years, when the race was tight down the stretch. Maybe thats why were back-to-back NL west champs!!! Maine is probably your best pitcher and they give Glavine & Perez too much credit. What is Glavines record anyways in his past couple starts.

and LEFTY the Mets are putting up the same #'s, he puts up every year. In fact he's putting up some very good #'s this year. And you don't have Peavy or Young. If you were to face us in the playoffs, you would easily be down 2-0!

At one point this season, the Mets had both corner outfielders on the DL(who also happened to be their two hottest hitters at the time) along with their top bench replacement. Jose Valentin was also down for an extended period of time. Orlando Hernandez, Oliver Perez, and Jorge Sosa have all seen DL time to hamper the starting rotation.
While I still believe the the Mets are the team to beat in the NL, they haven't been playing the way they can for almost the entire season. Delgado hasn't done anything this year. Beltran has stalled since April. Wright is getting steadier and steadier as the season goes on, and Reyes is constantly in scoring position. If Beltran and Delgado start hitting like they are used to, then the Mets will be winning a lot more games in which their pitchers flounder.

Mets fans never brag that we have the best team in the NL. At least I don't. However, I think you can definitely make a case for it. This might sound crazy, but the team with the best record in the regular season MIGHT just be the best team in the league. Who was that last year? Oh yeah, the mets. And yeah, you guys have a great pitching staff, theres no debate. But what about hitting? Our lineup is much better than yours. Beltran and Delgado are struggling, and we've had green, alou, pedro, endy chavez, jorge sosa, orlando hernandez, and oliver perez injured at one point in the year. We've had a lot of injuries, we've just been able to overcome them unlike our crosstown rivals. We're not performing like the best team in the national league, but we have the potential to be. The Padres are at their peak now, they can't get any better. As you saw last year, the mets can be a 100 win team. Argue it all you want, but when beltran and delgado return to their old form, and we get our solid 5 man rotation back, we'll be a force.
Oh, and Pedro/Glavine aren't half bad either. We'd put up a fight, and win probably 1 of those games. And our bullpen is great.
And, as i just found out, your team is led by adrian gonzalez, with a whopping .268 batting average. In case you have to read it again, i'm not joking, gonzalez leads your team with a .268 batting average. Your team has the 6th lowest run production and the 2nd worst batting average in the league. And your not underachieving, your batters really just suck. Our batters have the capability to be one of the most potent offenses in the league. I'm gonna remember you come october, and you'll be in for a rude awakening.

srry man but the Mets r the class of the NL, it may not seem so right now but we have injuries bro tat ur Padres havent gone through, our outfielders were gone for a prety long time and our pitchers have been doing a good job. Pedro will help us when he comes back and the Padres are good but not better than the Mets. Match us up in a series of 5 or 7 we will always win man, srry to break ur hopes up, ur pitching might b good but offense isnt as good, just wait till we face yah, then will see!

when the mets are rolling on all cylinders they are the best team in the MAJORS. if maine, perez, sosa and glavine are on their a-games, they're very hard to beat. the padres will choke under pressure late into the season.
yeah because the NL west is a good division. perez is overrated? i understand glavine but perez? come on. that's just a lack of research. watch this guy on the mo0und. i'm telling you. he's no peavy, but he can get the job done any give nday.

Since when is Martinez washed up at 35. he will come back healthy and help the Mets. Pods are good but Wells and Maddox are over 40. So we'll see who stays healthy. Whomever stays healthy will win. The Mets are far from done.

Awful playing in Colorado. Sorry to see the mets take it so hard this week. Just hope they can beat the Astros.

the mets seem to finally realize what it take to play baseball and keep up with the competition.
granted i love the fact that my team take it every year(last season was a fluke) but i looooooooooove the fact that it's not a landslide anymore. makes the braves look even better!!!

Met fans have really bad attitudes, especially towards Yankee fans............I've seen it for years already and it's crappy, to put it mildly...........They've been waiting for years for the Mets to be healthy.........It's just an excuse..........I'm in NY and a true blue Yankee fan and I would like to see the Mets do well but I sure as hell won't make excuses for them.....They folded like tents last year and if they couldn't do it last year I don't think it will be any different this year.......CAT
