The amount of days off (Vacation Days) is determined by the type of work, the company you work for, and the level you have obtained during the year.

There is no set answer ... and that is for sure. As far as taking the days all at once --- again, you need to check with the scheduling of vacation days -- and normally, your boss will have a master schedule with everyone's desired days off listed on it ... and this is for planning purposes. IF you are a newer employee, with the least amount of time in position, you most likely will need to workaround all the previously scheduled days off of the more experienced employees (for sure).

You also need to keep in mind that you should save some of those 'days off' (Vacation days) for emergencies -- which can include family problems or other bad things happening .. or even to build up those days of vacation time so that you can have EXTRA Time off if you are going to have a child in the next year too!

It depends on what country you work in and what job you have.

In the US most retail jobs will give you 2 weeks off. But they have black out periods (mostly around holidays) in which you cannot take off and they would like you to work two days in between the two weeks.
In more corporate jobs your vacation time is based off of hours worked. a 12 hour shift earns 1 hour of time off. BUT you can take all of the time off at once.

i think 1-2 weeks is standard; as for how you can take the days, that is up to your company's policy

Your employer is not forced to give you any holidays. Any that you get at purely at your employer's mercy.
