I was just wondering. I get comments from people all the time from people who say they have read my Q&A and some love me, some hate me. I have been called both and angry Black man and an uncle tom; sometimes as responses to the same question.

Why are people so quick to jump to conclusions?

No I dont think you can really know someone, but I definitely think you can get an idea of their education, political leanings, sense of humor things like that.

Because of human nature. Sometimes I think its hard for people to understand what the term "playing devil's advocate" really means. There are times when I ask questions that go against my own values and beliefs just to see how people will respond. On the flip side of this, people come to conclusions about others on here because this really is what they have to go on. In real life, we do the similar--that is, draw conclusions based on heresay. I don't think its possible to "know" somebody through their Y!A Q&A.

You can never fully know anyone else (or probably even yourself) in this world. That's one of the things that Heaven is for!

Nevertheless, you can come to some conclusions about people here from their Q&As--particularly if when they're "playing devil's advocate" they reveal their intent as they choose a Best Answer!

And people here are particularly quick to jump to conclusions because there's no real downside. Almost none of us have to deal with each other in real life, so we can give rein to our impulses more easily.

I don't think that you could know someone because of the type of answers and the questions they ask. I think you can gain a sense of their personality and their point of view, but for all we know people may be portraying something/someone that they are not.

Because your questions are honest, and you don't "beat around the bush". Some people just don't want to hear the truth, so they criticise.

You can get a bearing on someone if you read many of their answers, but certainly not KNOW them.

Good luck :)
