Let's take a realistic look at the possibility. They can go to the playoffs by winning their division, but the Angles really look good and I believe that would be difficult to accomplish for Seattle. The only other way to make the playoffs would be as a wild card. That would mean they would have to have a better record than Cleveland or Detroit to make the playoffs, and that is assuming they will have a better record than the Yankees and Twins. Seattle has a good team this year but the playoffs for them looks like a long shot to me.

No, because when the second half of the season begins after the all-star break, that is when the veterans shine. Unfortunately for the mariners, their pitching has to get better before they have a chance to win the wild card or the al west division. There is no way they can pass the angels because there pitching is incredible. They have two ten game winning pitchers on their team, when the Mariners only have an eight game winner (Batista) as their highest game winning pitcher, which is O.K., but if they want to beat the tigers or the angels they have to get some better pitching like Mark Buehrle and some veteran sluggers like Griffey Jr. or Adam Dunn. And just because there hot right now, doesn't mean they'll be hot later because most likely, the mariners will have a bit of a slump before they end the season (they won't be one of the hottest team in baseball forever). Besides that, If the M's make the playoffs, I can gurantee that they don't do well because the have inexperienced pithcing and the don't have the best sluggers in the MLB. But, if the M's want to even have a chance to make it to the playoffs, the have to get some hr hitting veteran sluggers as well as some experienced playoff pitching pitchers.

at present sure, yet you nonetheless count variety out the Angels. they're an fairly stable group, even without Figgins and Lackey, and are nonetheless contenders in the branch race. And there are some issues that are concerns with the Mariners. For one, each and every physique is talking approximately how stable signing Milton Bradley grow to be, yet they seem to forget that he struggled in Chicago, what makes you think of that he won't proceed to conflict in Seattle. 2nd, Lee grow to be no longer very efficient earlier he switched to the national League. sure, his era grow to be low, yet he had a 7-9 win-loss checklist in Cleveland, no longer very stable. the reality that Lee could no longer be as stable as he grow to be in Philly is likewise a difficulty to evaluate. yet universal, i think of the Mariners are poised to take the branch faraway from the Angels. I anticipate a returned and forth combat for the branch between the two Seattle and Anaheim.

I thought the M's would make a run this year for some reason, but I still think they come up short for the division and the wild card. Detroit has been getting their bullpen pounded for a while here but some of their guys will be coming back here and soon and that will shore up their only weakness. The M's probably need another starter right now.

Not a chance. I don't see them beating the Angels, and the wild card will come from the East. Too many deficiencies in this roster. The loss of Hargrove doesn't help either.
