A couple of weeks before school let out our principal was making the morning announcements and well there were alot of food functions happening in the last two weeks of school, so i guess she thought she add in a joke saying and i quote "By the time school is over you will all be obese!" unqote, I felt disgusted and seriously offended. She acted as if it was some kind of disgusting contagious disease. After all that you could even hear her laughing over the intercom. Was this very proffesional of her? Was she acting as an adult in a superior position should? what do you think?

Obesity IS a disease and, yes, in most of the cases, obese people are not very attractive, to put it this way.
She was trying to make a joke and she made a mistake. We all make mistakes. Teachers are not perfect.

Not professional at all;
Obesity is NOT contagious and it could just be in the genes of a person. This lady was may be joking, but, she is a Principal, that means a high rank in Education and should know better that you don' t want to offense people, especially a person who probably already suffer mentally of her involuntary condition.
If I would be obese, or have an obese daughter in that school, I would have taken the remark as an insult, and also as a prejudice; If you have a witness of her words, you can go to the "Human Right Commission" of where you live and go after her!

I personally think you took this joke a bit out of proportion. It was just a joke, not meant to, as you put it in such an unnecessary, overly blunt way, "offend and make the students feel disgusted."
So more food was going to be given out, and she made a tiny comment about it. You make mistakes. She's allowed to as well.
And don't embarass yourself by reporting it, unless you want an apology from the principal that just oozes out wonder and annoyance. And to put it frankly, she'll think you're stupid.
WORRY ABOUT YOUR STUDIES, not a meaningless, mere comment.

I think she was making a joke related to the festivities.
I think the problem is that you're too sensitive about this subject. You shouldn't get offended so easily. You may need to seek counseling because your overly sensitive.
How are you going to cope in the real world? In the real world you're going to face much worse criticism or statements that do not reflect your perspective on issues. The real world does not care about you or your sensitivity.

The 'insult' wasnt directed at any one person. But to the whole student body.
Seems to me you just want suffocating political correctness from your principal.

I think you are too thin skinned. Toughen up life will throw a lot worse at you then a few silly comments that are not even directed at you personally.
