We all live on the one planet, its filled with oil, gold, silver, copper, diamonds etc etc etc , I didnt know that the planet Earth was the property of a certain few? I thought it belongs to all the people living on it? why cant we just all have a little bit of its wealth, so we can all live healthey and happy together? I know people will say a bunch of political crap, but it should be simple, so much wealth on one planet and so many people dying and struggling, I mean C'mon, Oprah on her own could make hundreds of people millionaires, thats just one person, think of all the Gold and Diamonds in the Earth, if everyone on the planet was givin just a bit, ok so I might be dumb but it just doesn't make sense nor do I really think it would be that hard, but I suppose the Bill Gates of the world dont like to share, is that the problem?? people dont want others to share their toys? is that all the problem really is? I share what I have, lets all try. Peace

That's not dumb you are very right, and this is a great question. It must be a sickness to want all that money, I know I would share. Most people are not looking for a handout, but an equal opportunity to have what everyone should have, especially in a country like ours. I think we would all be better off without technology, and just living off the earth. I always say that I would rather be a monkey, they don't have to pay rent.

Guru-
obviously you have never been a single mother. Money is important in this country-in this life. How do you expect people to buy food with contentment? True that contentment is not about money, you asked a question like that (still no best answer?), but I think we are talking about the difference between rich and poor, and how unfair it is. Actually how criminal it is.

In a ideal world the wealth would be spread around. We are human beings with human short comings. We are so very different in our choices of what we do and what we don't do with our money. The Bill Gates and Oprah's of the world do share some of their wealth where "THEY" think it is needed and with whom they want to share it with. Just try to be a sharing and giving person yourself and hope you rub off on others. It will at least make a difference. We can share our compassion, our kindness, our tolerance of others. We can share our knowledge of many things. that's sharing our wealth as well. We will never have a society that is equal in wealth. If that could be the case of life we would have been made all the same. Sorry if I couldn't help you with your question. I hope my thoughts on the question made some impact on you. Take care.

Hmm. As long as you continue to define health, contentment and happiness in this way, you and others will suffer.

Contentment, for example, has little to do with how much you have, rather your state of contentment regardless of what you have or don't. I can be content with $1 or $1000. When you learn the process of achieving contentment, the dollar amounts become meaningless.

Oprah and Gates can keep their money. As we can see, they still don't have enough as their actions indicate that they must have even more. They are not content.

Health and happiness comes from a sense of contentment, not from how much money one has. Although money will help purchase health care services, a lack of contentment is a contributer to poor health.

Your talking two different points. You start out with communal living and switch to redistribution of wealth. Both fail because those that innovate and excel are forced to provide to those who strive for a parasitic existence. You offer two poor examples. Yes, they have extraordinary wealth, yet their philanthropic lifestyles have given away more money than some third world countries GDP.

One small problem.....if everyone had some gold and diamonds, these items would be worthless.
Wealth is relative. There is no wealth without poverty. There is no profit without demand. If noone was wanting for anything then there would be no incentive to provide anything.....

To most people, the meaning of life is complicated. People like Bill Gate, they have the money in the world, but can he / she take their money / processions with them when they died? No, right? But most of us still want / need more money /processions. They might have their own reason(s), needs, philosophy etc.

To me, i would like to have 'enough', it means it is able me to lead a modest life style during my time in this world. A Modest Life Style to me is to lead a healthy, happy, simple and 'correct' life style, to do good and the correct things to myself and the rest. Hopefully at the end of my journey in this world, the invisible door up there will wide open to welcome me.

I see, what you mean. That would be great! You are asking for major changes,we are just so used to the way things are,if only we could change all that,so,everyone could be happy, and healthy! There really is enough to go around for everyone.Your right its all in sad, sad, shape! Why are these people so damn greedy? What is wrong with them? Some would be so appreciative of just a small amount of what they have.Things have got to change!!
