You absolutely have to be in LA or NY as that is where they are shot. A talent agent definitely helps, but you can find out who the casting director is through things like the Ross Reports. Submit your headshot. Initially they might call you in for some background work, but this is a good step to getting your foot in the door and learning the set and who's who (people like the stage manager, etc). You might be able to work up from there, but the best way is to be incredibly beautiful and have an agent.

You need a Talent Agent, to submit you to the Casting Director, when they are casting a role, that is right for you.
You must live in New York City or Los Angeles.
