If something bites you, don't pull away, shove whatever it's clamped onto (arm, leg, etc) towards its face. It should shock and loosen its grip.

Also, when my dog was still a puppy she attacked me by seriously biting at me (like, a serious attack for a small puppy). I bit her on the ear hard enough to let her know that I was the alpha in the pack, and she's never had any problems with attacks since, she's an incredibly well-behaved and happy dog.

Cover the animals face with anything nearby (dish towel/shirt/blanket) to prevent it from hurting me/ let me get away, or dump water over its face/punch it in the head if I really couldn't shake it off. (I have an Alaskian malamute and would be totally screwed if it were to really want to hurt me)
Are we talking cujo attack, like out for blood? Or just mildly irritated, you stepped on my tail, sort of biting. If it was serious I would hit it in a soft spot (nose/stomach) and call animal control because that kind of behaviour could be rabies. If its just acting out I'd take it to the vet to see if it was sick or something.

I'd tell him no firmly, and leave the room. But my dog would not do that, because he is a very sweet, loving animal. Unless something was severely wrong with him, he would never harm me or my family members.

If it is serious...Then you either need training rapidly or need to get rid of him. Once they bite ...they can do it again. It is only a short step from small bite to attacking and mauling.
