the light has stayed on through 4 hours of heavy and light rain and has remained on. 3 days ago we installed a light sensor. I am going away for 10 days and don't want a fire. Would the light just burn out and no fire would occur in the electrical system to the house?

Actually, this is not smoke it is steam. The housing of the light is heated because one fact of science is " Light gives off heat." Therefore, when the water droplets come in contact with the heated housing lthey evaporate and you see the steam rise from the area. From a distance this very well could look like smoke but the difference is smoke will have an aroma and steam from water will not (unless there are other elements in the water).
