i have alot of free time in the summer want to do something with it, i cant not do anything it takes my mind off stuff. so at first i was thinking of having a dog because they are good companions but icouldnt find one that i could handle, it was either very hyper or shed alot which is bad for my allergies. then i was looking into buying a cat but realized i was allergic. i cant buy any small pets, or at least any of the ones i wanted [ex. hamster] because they look like rats, or so thats what my parents say. i thought having a pet would keep my company and occupied, i would dedicate time to care for it and stuff but i just couldnt find one that lives my lifestyle because then when i start school im very active and wouldnt have time for an animal. so i dont want to be cruel to the animal by playing with it all summer then dissapearing from it! but if u find me a good type of pet that needs less attention that would be good. other than having pets what other thing could occupy my time?

Why don't you try volunteering for an animal shelter or see if there is a way that you could find a pet that you could bring to a hospital to visit patients. It might take a little bit of looking into, but you say you have the time. That's so great that you are thinking of the future for a pet.. some people get animals without thinking what their lives will be like in a couple of months and the animal is neglected or has less attention than it deserves.

I feel that the pet to solve your boredom issue could be an exotic fish. Though you cant do anything with them, you can get one that looks pretty wild and have it be content all the while. You feed it a few times a day and that's pretty much it. Every week or so you should also clean its tank/bowl so that your fish doesn't become sick. To make the tank a little more interesting, throw in some plant seeds that sink to the bottom, root, and grow to create additional life or add some fish tank art such as the little statues that you can find cheep at Walmart. Now, I'm not sure what kind of animals your afraid of or interested in, but snakes, hermit crabs, and frogs are also low maintenance pets.

How about volunteering at the local animal shelter? Then you can play with the animals, feed them, walk them, and they'd love you for it.

If you're really that bored, you need to do something constructive with your time. Read some classics (from the summer reading list for your school) or exercise. Gardening work out in the yard can be really satisfying when you see a jungle turn back into a garden. You just have to start early, before it gets too hot.

Do you swim? Unless you swim very well, sign up for swim lessons. Then do lots of laps in the lanes. Its very calming, cooling and good for you. My daughter is the only one who can reach the top when she goes to the rock climbing place. That's because her arms are awesome strong from swimming. She even beat some of the boys!

Hopefully I've given you some ideas. You're a smart young lady, and you're right. You do need to stay occupied.

It seems as if you don't have a friend to share your time with. The pet idea isn't such a bad one, as if you are still living at home, he might find some solace from your parents when you are busy. I am not working any more, but I always have plenty to do, lots of hobbies like jig saws, reading good books, and when I can, I take my camera out with me and take as many interesting photos as I can.

I do hope during your vacation from school you pitch in and do a few chores for your parents, but you sound rather alone and a loner, so try and make sure you keep yourself available to your other relatives, grandparents, as during the summer, everyone and his neighbor appreciates someone to cut the lawn, and would give your neighbor a good feeling about you, plus a little cash.

I repeat, though, pets are good to have. They teach you responsibility, and if you could just have a cat to start with, it wouldn't be too unhappy when you go to school, as you could then shower it with tons of cuddles and love, feed it and be there for it while doing your homework after school.

Don't forget, too, swimming is good, cross country is fun, also, and plain old walking - you'd be surprised what you see when walking.

Hope the holidays rush by for you, altho' I'm not wishing them to rush for me, as I never have time to do what I want do - and I'm only 66, live all alone, except for my wonderful kitty, Flash, who lets me know me when to get up, when to feed her, and is so glad to see me when I come home after being gone.

if you like reading, try picking a book series you like. like the #1 ladies detective agency series, nancy drew, hardy boys or something like that and challenge yourself to read a certain number of books by the end of summer. volunteer at a pet shelter. also Beta fish are the most appropriate pet i know of for a busy person then come in all kind of colors and even change color too as grow. they are very beatiful. the male beta/or japanese fighting fish as they are also called are solitary fish so if you want several u must buy separate things to keep each in or they will kill each other. the females arent very attractive nor desireable unless your a hobbiest and want to breed them. warning they have like 500 eggs at a time. they also can live in very small spaces like a vase. most people put a them in a vase of water then a plant over top which they feed on and u only have to give them like 3 pellets of food every couple days also putting the appropriate size snail in there. the snail eats the algae to survive and does the cleaning for you. making it less need to clean the bowl or vase out. or volunteer at a nursing home(like adopt a grandparent) or hospital i know as a kid when in hospitals i used to enjoy a volunteer playing a game or doing a craft with me. speaking of crafts. this wont take you all summer long but here is a great project if u like ocean themed stuff or take a trip to the ocean/beach. gather sea shells star fish or other sea/ocean stuff and get some sand. some liquid plaster/ water/pipe cleaner/ a paper plate, vaseline.
-take paper plate and sand. pour sand on plate enough to cover bottom. place the objects you collect the opposite way u want to see them when you lift everything once its dry.(like if u place a starfish on and want to see the top of it place the top part into the sand) rub vaseline arouund the edges so it will lift off when dry. then pour plaster mixture over plate. when it has begun to hard take pipe cleaner bend and twist ends together place into top of plaster. wait 24 total hours to be sure it is dry. then lift the plaster piece off the plate and there you have it a seashell wall hanging.

Take up painting and/or drawing. It's something you can set aside when school starts.
