looked outside and saw this and wondered if it was a fire hazzard. rain subsided and smoke lessened. any thoughts? thx

It was steam, not smoke. The same thing happened to me two days ago. It is just the rain hiting the hot surface of the lamp and evaporating. It is no different than the steam from hot water. There is no hazard.

The temperature of the street light might be hot enough to cause that smoke, depending on what type of gas is in that lamp. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.

Its probably steam, not smoke. Its not a hazard.
