My nonitor is an LG 566LM is that ok or will I need a new one? Oh I would also like to know about how much money will I be spending just in the memory/hard drive and graphics card. Hope someone can help me, thanks!

If you want to use the PC you have, keep XP, if you want to use Vista, get a new PC. Your motherboard is REALLY outdated, I had it on a PC with WIN 98 :).
Try to re-sell or return the Vista and buy just a PC for $350-400 with basic Vista capabilities and the OS pre-installed (or better if you have the money and want to move up to performance).

If you want to upgrade your memory, you need PC2100 Memory, your PC can take up to 2GB (two slots 1GB each).
Your processor is almost maxed, the top possibility is a P4 @ 2.4GHz upgrading is pointless. Vista pretty much demands hyperthreading or dual-core, or you'll freeze up non-stop.
Your graphics is not upgradeable unless you get a basic PCI card for more memory but there's no way to get Vista Aero running smoothly.
Like the people before me said, it's not worth it.
If you want functions and good user experience, stick with XP, if you want eyecandy, maybe look into Linux, I've been using it for a while now, looks sweet (not here to preach though) or get a Mac.

Look it would be cheaper to you if you get a new computer with vista installed. Vista requires to much RAM i have 2GB and works great but my brothers PC has 1GB and don't work as smooth as mine, you can get 2GB of RAM for around a 150 at Frys.com, be sure that you now what type of RAM your's computers has installed, for HD at last 120GB at 5400, vista alone requires around 10GB and all the softwares designed for vista are too big. On the video card i can't be really helpful but go to microsoft.com and seek for vidta in the bottom of the page and see what is needed to intsall vista in your pc. You should be thinking in 350-500 to upgrade your computer.

it would help to tell us what your current memory is for how much it would cost, but i'd say 2 gigs would be good enough. not sure about video
